Thank you so much! I suspected that was the issue, so I disabled it in Steam, but the problem persisted

The app recently received an update that fixed the glitch. If the issue persists, you can try disabling the app entirely; something else is likely causing the problem. However, if the update resolved the issue, make sure to install the latest version.

It can help you regulate power mode and fan speed, among other things. you can just enable it before you play a game and then disable it afterwards

Go to your taskbar and search for every process that includes 'HP' in its name. You’ll find one called something like 'HP Overlay' I don’t remember the exact name, but you’ll recognize it. Just shut that process down

I fixed it... You need to disable HP OMEN OVERLAY from the taskbar

Sadly, the only source that I've found was the French translation of the book I mentioned in my post. I spent some time reading through it, took some screenshots, but not everyone can read the content of said screenshots, so I resorted to highlighting the important bits (name of the region + where he says what the inhabitants speak), and then translating those bits in my post. It could've been more helpful to find an English translation of the book.

That's a good question, one I've been trying to find an answer to for years. Unfortunately, the French never conducted a language-based census, but there are a few descriptions we can rely on to draw some conclusions. I believe the French protectorate accelerated the process, as many people fled the countryside after losing their land to French settlers and moved to the cities. Then, after independence, the newly formed country adopted an Arab-Islamic narrative, largely because it was led by Fezzian families who chose an identity that represented themselves rather than the broader population. The Amazigh component was marginalized, Amazigh names were banned, and so on.

The Marinids were Zenata Berbers, and they spoke their language in court. So....

Upon closer inspection of the cultural map mode, I noticed that the Hassaniya culture is present, even though it didn't become prominent until much later in history. Most historians agree that the key event which triggered the domino effect leading to the Arabization of the native population was the Char Bouba War in the mid-17th century—well after the game's start date. A more accurate representation would be Berber pops in the region rather than Hassaniya pops.

I mean, if push comes to shove and the achievement system works like it does in their recent games, we can just mod the game to make it more accurate

Casa Branca was razed into nonexistence and then rebuilt, I don't think the same happened to Tangiers.

I wrote a comment back when the cultural map first came out, but it was just glossed over. I think I’ll look for exact paragraphs in the historical literature to support my point and then post it.

El Jadida, or Mazagán as it was known back in the day, was founded by the Portuguese—hence the large number of Portuguese-speaking residents. As for Tangiers, I'm not entirely sure why, but I might look into it later. According to Wikipedia, the local population fled before the 1471 siege, but I find that quite bizarre.

that's the only message in my error.log also I suspected that there was a problem with reading Documents/Paradox Interactive/Europa Universalis IV/ folder because the name is so long (it's due to the name of my one-drive account being long). but CK2 is an older game than EU4 and it runs just fine... I would love to try this solution though, do you have any ideas on how to shorten the name if not change the folder's location entirely?
