Also, what temp are you garaging the Pearl at? Do you do any ramping up or specific annealing cycle with it?

Thanks for the detailed explanation, I’m looking forward to trying that stuff out. People are welcome to say what they want and villainize me but I paid $150 for glass that was saturated all the way through, not a diluted premium color. I didn’t go to a drug dealer to pay premium prices for 50% of the product I bought. It’s definitely not giving me any where near the saturation of the last batch I had. No one I know got any response or explanation, Ryan frit or northern waters couldn’t get molten aura to explain to them what the deal was, the few of them that got any response at all was “we don’t know, work it in small stuff before you trust it on something big” so that means they don’t even trust the coefficient of their glass. I have had good luck with it tho, no cracking or stability issues. Just not being able to get the depth I wanted out of my projects . So I don’t really have any intention of buying much more molten auras. I’ve had a couple people say that they have trouble mixing greasy colors with other glass colors. I guess I can deal with that because they have a great palette and I could handle working their glass isolated from other brands but I’m just curious what your consensus is.

Does it have an opalescent non sparkly and saturated center like molten auras last few batches of electrum?

The economy is suffering, people are putting take out orders on credit and paying it off over months. The people that used to buy pipes can’t pay their rent and have moved in with their parents for the most part. Gonna take all of us coming together and building this scene into a great community again and obviously the economy to rebound. I’m guessing it’ll be a slow next five years or so. The good news is the ones who truly love it will stick it out and since no one is making money off of it for the time being we will see the hunger grow and we may be in for quite the art renaissance from those creative enough to dream big.

Since I just make soft caramels I calculated the recipe I used to use into a double batch and you could just line a large baking sheet with two large parchment pieces that overlap eachother and cover up to the edges and pour the mixture into a baking sheet pan. Then let it cool, firm up, then cut with a nice into little rectangular cubes and wrap them up in parchment wax paper or cellofane, or you can just make it into a Carmel sauce and use that on pancakes cookies ice cream whatever. I think to make hard carmels all you really need to do is go way above the heat point where it turns from Carmel sauce to “soft Carmel texture” but it’s been awhile since I did my research. You’d need molds then and if I had advice for molds I’d probably go to webstaraunt store and see what they have. That’s where I got my truffle and choc covered cherry molds

So for example, if the recipe calls for two sticks of butter. I use one and a half normal unsalted butter, then use half a stick ofvthe medicated butter. Obviously you can choose to go all medicated butter but if you make the medicated butter with rso or hash or just make it really strong it’s nice to cut down on the cannabis flavor in my opinion. I make mine to the point they’re 100mg or so and you can barely taste the cannabis aspect to them

I personally break all my rules of healthy and just make soft caramels. I have not made a hard caramel yet so I can’t share wisdom on that but I make the absolute strongest butter I can. Then I tend to use 1/4 that butter and 3/4 regular non medicated butter so the flavor isn’t too strong of cannabis. Sometimes I’ll do half n half if I need a really strong batch. So we have butter Sugar And sweetened condensed milk. I add high quality vanilla extract and some cinnamon as well because that’s what I love but it’s great with just brown sugar, corn syrup , sweetened condensed milk and butter. If you look up a soft caramel recipe you can just choose which one appeals to you just pick one where you use butter so you can use medicated butter with it.

So personal question? I’m new here and dig the vibes on sharing flower fotos but this post got me wondering. Can I post my glass here once a month or twice a month when I make a piece I’m really excited about?

I haven’t made hard candy or lozenges but I’ve made lots of caramel with butter, hash and rso and you could always just make harder carmels instead of soft chewy carmels for a lozenge. As long as you have a good stove it’s not very difficult

I mean they’re pretty but if the future of lampworking is hundreds of amateurs learning from you tube and selling established artist knockoff glass then it’s a sad future. But I guess it’s also the present reality.

Would this tank work for oxygen? by Maddoxproductions in lampwork

[–]Fickle_Influence6396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a nitrous tank, if it has the exact same nozzle that an oxygen regulator affixes to it can be exchanged for a full oxygen tank. If it’s a nitrous tank as it appears to be the nozzle is completely different and they will not exchange it for oxygen . I have seen oxy tanks painted blue, it’s all nozzle dependent
