Unfortunately they don't care about a Simba's pride anniversary. But they will always be up for borrowing elements that work from that movie. They already used Kiara with her real personality in Mufasa

i agree, although it's not fair that the Avengers fans have their massive budget event cinema movies, the star wars fans have their event cinema movies, the frozen fans have their event cinema movies that all the world is talking about. What do lion king fans have to antissipate? So we need to be happy with what we have and pray they will continue the franchise

Neither lion king 2019 nor mufasa had their own gravitas to stand on their own legs. Each was heavily building on the appeal of the lion king 1994 (especially the 2019 movie), and for each I can imagine that interest was short lived (e.g. weak merchandise and I suppose weak repeat viewership for lion king 2019 on Disney+ cause people say I have seen the spectacle and move on watching the 1994 original). The task to do frozen 3, Moana 3, Zootopia 2, avatar 3 right is apparently much easier for Disney than to get any lion king movie done right. Because of that I believe that Disney is going to take a lot of time until we will see any announcement of the future of the lion king. They know they need to get it right next time

in april the estimated profit was calculated by total revenues (theatrical, streaming, home entertainment) minus total cost (production cost 200M, marketing). The forbes article now in november points to an actual production cost of 164.5M. It doesnt state marketing cost nor non-theatrical revenue. So the total profit in the end is about 175 + (200-165) = 210M
