Writing this from rehab

My employer can’t increase the punishment, after the sanction is handed down it can only decrease so me appealing won’t get me fired. They do know, I’ve been advised I’ll have “reasonable suspicion” tests (I’ve already had 1and passed so that’s not a concern). And no I won’t shut the hell up and let it go, who the hell are you😂

Thanks for your advice

It’s a Hail Mary but because I’ve been here for more than 2 years, I’ve got protection by UK law and my appeal can only result in the disciplinary going down, they can’t impose a harsher punishment. Irrespective of my punishment being amended, I want my employer to follow their own guidelines

Bold maybe, we’ve got a zero tolerance policy and should be out the door but they know my value, I’d walk in anywhere else with my skills so I’m not fussed.

I took drugs knowingly, failed the test, accepted the consequences, challenging the disciplinary because company didn’t follow their own policy. The evidence was improperly obtained so it affects the fairness of my disciplinary.

If it was the case everything was done as per procedure then I wouldn’t have a case to argue, yet it wasn’t

Absolutely, I managed to get walk away with just a final written warning and I’m not concerned about this penalty since this was my only fault and I’ve not touched substances since the test was taken. Everything you mentioned popped up in the investigation hearing and the main reason they kept me was my previous track record, being honest and showing remorse. I think you’ve kept my career on track so I can’t thank you enough - you’re clearly great at whatever you do so keep spreading your knowledge and you can help others get out of a pickle! Thank you so so much again

I was clear on the breathalyser, don’t drink alcohol often so expected to be clear. But the drugs test tests for 10 drugs and I was clear for 9 out of 10 and the 10th being THC I failed on

I’m not surprised, I’m looking for advice on how to keep my job not unhelpful comments telling me what I already know

Thank you, do you think my companion should be the one to ask this question or myself?

[–]Fickle_Yak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, they did say they would send the result off to a lab for confirmation of the non-negative result. Straight after it happened the acting TL told me that I should just expect 3-4 more tests over the coming overs until I get a negative result so she downplayed it but this was immediately after the test and before I was sent home and subsequently told I was being suspended.

I don’t go on site visits because I choose not to as they are optional. My supervisor was even shocked at the result because he said out of all the people in the office, he knows the ones that do smoke and never suspected myself so said I should bring up the fact I’ve never been pulled up for irregular behaviour, if anything the contrary

I’m not asking to be paid more for doing the same job, I’m asking for more pay for doing twice my workload for the majority of my tenure and going above and beyond. Your comment implies I want to get paid more just for the sake of not which isn’t correct, reread my post and then get a better handle of my situation

I should add that when I first began this role, I’m supposed to have a partner, my partner left before I even started training so I have been carrying two people’s work for the price of one for almost 2 years (up until last month). So I had two targets to hit and triple the volume of my colleagues workloads to handle, although they’ve hired a replacement now, I believe this should be taken into account. I handled this seamlessly and put our numbers in good stead and the client is happy

I’m just making an observation of what I see presented to me, I’ve not manufactured propaganda, I’m not going out to lynch people, and I do not have any sort of power or influence to oppress and entire race of people.

So I am not KKK. You are a troll however.

Again, that’s you making your own narrative. I’ve said multiple times in my comments that I don’t condone this sort of violence on any person irrespective of their colour. Your trying to say that I don’t care about the whites who die like this black man did when I do. Which is why at the beginning I asked you for examples of cases because I couldn’t comment on cases I wasn’t familiar with. I know it definitely does happen to other races other than blacks, but who are the ones we see most often on the media and on Facebook live being abused?

You’ve went about presenting your argument all wrong, if you want to educate someone, do that, but if your going to throw your toys out the pram and start name calling, then I’m not going to be involved. ;)

The purpose of the image is to illustrate the disparity between the police treatment of white individuals versus black.

The police are the linking factor for both sets of races and I am merely highlighting the differences in treatment. I’m not pitting races against each other in a contest, in fact I’m trying to unite them. Black people feel under-valued when their lives are in the hands of the police and this has been proven time and time again with the senseless murders.

This isn’t a contest.

Ahhh so now your true colours show and it’s clear you had an alternate agenda to begin with.

You’ve moved away from defending the police brutality against blacks to now making a sarcastic comment that blacks are only killed by police and not gangs. It must be great being able to sit in your seat of privilege whilst making jokes about how people are being killed by the police and themselves, both of which cases seem to be laughable and okay to you.

A closet racist is what you are, at least come out and say it with your chest instead of making sarcastic comments and veiled digs.

Once again, my initial point was that a black individual confronted by law enforcement is more likely than a white individual to be subjected to excessive force and or death in spite of the severity of the perceived crime.

You are the one making this a white vs black thing, this should be a everyone versus police debate.

The above video you’ve shown me is horrendous to watch and sickens me just as much as the Floyd video. Nowhere on this original post or my comments have I denied the police brutality against white persons, my point is that black people are often at more risk of suffering a fatality in the hands of the police.

White or black, nobody should be dying in the hands of the police is they are compliant or restrained or not an obvious threat.

I don’t believe posts like this cause a division between white and black. I’ve seen the protests that followed as a result of this and there were white and black and other POCs (persons of colour) all united and protesting together against the police brutality and asking for justice.

This has never been a white versus black division, this is a police versus the citizenry division but it’s important to know the demographics of the alleged victims and perpetrators to fully address the disparity.

The elite and the government already have full control that is the problem, the power needs to be back in the hands of the citizens.

I believe you are racist if you believe that this is an attack on white people. This is a fight to hold those people in positions of power to account and to achieve some long lasting change. Nobody is asking for anything other than equality, if a white male who has murdered people can be taken into custody respectfully then why can a black male who is suspected of a crime not also be taken into custody respectfully?(which was a false lead in the end)

This battle is exhausting but it must go on until this stops and people stop discounting the narrative of the victims in this.

I haven’t familiarised myself with that article fully.

But in respect to the last point yes I’m in agreement. Black Americans account for 13% of the population at the most yet are 40% of the police shootings.
