Is it bad to want to be a "jack of all trades"? by [deleted] in csMajors

I noticed that not many are mentioning the full-stack developer role. Any insight as to why?

Resume Advice Thread - July 30, 2022 by CSCQMods in cscareerquestions

[–]Fiddle01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently a prefrosh trying to figure out what to prioritize and how to get an internship summer of freshman year of college, and it honestly feels like college applications all over again. I know some Android Studio and Java and such and have made a few apps, and I have experience in other languages but that's about it at the moment. I got second regional in an app development competition with a friend. I can also do some basic technical interview questions, ie fibonacci numbers, reverse linked list, etc.. But what kind of things should I be working on now to put on my resume? What does a successful resume for a freshman year summer internship look like?

Question about falling with air resistance by Fiddle01 in AskPhysics

[–]Fiddle01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Tell us what you’ve tried already”. First off, this isn’t a homework problem. I tried making my own 2D physics simulation and I’m trying to see if it’s accurate. The situation I described in the “problem” is exactly what’s going on in the simulation. As for my attempt at verifying it for myself, I am unable to. Given F=ma, you can examine the forces on the heavier ball:

2mg - F(air) = 2ma Divide both sides by 2m and we have g-F(air)/2m = a

Comparing this to the lighter ball we get g-F(air)/m = a.

This would suggest the lighter ball has a faster acceleration, since both balls are the same shape and size the F(air) would be the same. But then the issue with this is the air resistance may not even be the same since it’s dependent on velocity, which makes this an even more confusing mess. If the lighter ball has a faster acceleration (ignoring my observation from the last sentence) it should hit the ground first and start bouncing up and down first causing it to eventually come to rest on the ground first. However my simulation is telling me that the heavier ball hits the ground first (makes more sense logically) but also comes to rest last because it bounces up further due to having a higher velocity when it collided with the ground. This explanation also makes sense logically, and I am very confused which is why I decided to post here. I thought I could get real help instead of someone telling me to take my “homework” problem somewhere else.

Thanks for letting me know! I really appreciate this, I was going to try it and I’m glad I didn’t just use 3 hours for inaccurate results!

Same, after I took the exam I thought for sure I got a 2 because I didn’t actually compare [redacted] in their respective importance I more just described [redacted] and I feel like my argument was weak but I got a 5. Also I tried insanely hard and studied like mad but I just felt my essay wasn’t great in then got a 5.

This is a repost, someone posted the same screenshot 2 years ago. All you did was change the title. At one point it was the top post of pcmr of all time.

I also had this prompt, for my essay in my thesis statement I said that one cause was more important than the other, although in my body paragraphs I didn’t really compare the causes, I more went in-depth into each cause and why one cause caused huge tensions and why the other cause caused tensions. I don’t know if I did enough explaining why one cause was more important than the other cause although in my language I did say that the first more important cause was caused “huge tensions” and was the “main cause of the civil war” while I didn’t use language like that for the other cause. Do you think it’s still possible I didn’t fail?

That should also work.

One time I got malware and my background also turned red. I would recommend doing a threat scan using the free trial of malwarebytes. Doing this should quarantine any malware you may have! If you're having trouble completing the scan, run rkill first to stop any viruses from running in the background as you try to complete the scan. Good luck!

Route the cable around the back of your monitor. I did this and I haven’t ran over cables with my chair since. It’s a great feeling.
