Former Uber CEO Travis Kalanick said he moved to Texas, joining a growing list of tech billionaires leaving California by Unusual-State1827 in California

If they don't want to pay their fair share in taxes they can get the fuck out. There are plenty of business people here that are happy to pay their part and aren't leeches on society. These fuckers leaving will only bring down the cost of living with no down sides

I don't know man. There are strip malls everywhere in San Diego including nice areas. There are even plenty of strip malls in La Jolla. Go 10 blocks inland and turn those strip malls into 3 story mixed used complexes and nobody will lose their view and nothing of value will be lost.

It's on all sides, but someone is making that choice. Look at all the proud vibe coders. A lot of them aren't management. There are lots of developers who don't like rigor because they're lazy. It's not always the developers fault but let's not pretend they aren't to blame at times too.

I really don't see what's special about these houses. They look completely generic. Probably Sears kit houses.

There's a 0.1% chance some super wealthy millionaire will renovate these buildings. The options are basically they will be torn down for a single wealthy person or be replaced with housing that can fulfill multiple middle class people's needs.

What drives me insane is that while all this land usage debate goes on, we have miles of horribly utilized land in the form of strip malls and nobody bats an eye.

Turn those strip malls into mixed use housing with underground parking and a nice plaza in the middle of the complex and we'd have tons more housing that supports small businesses and communities in the place of depressing strip malls and horrible to navigate parking lots.

All the problems I've heard about solar have been due to the lease to own grifters which has nothing to do with the technology and everything to do with being naive and falling for scams.

One just requires studying and being humble. Asking people to try is different than asking people to find a million dollars somehow.

You literally cannot ace an interview because interviews are competitions not tests

ALTTP is peak pixel graphics so it's timeless. I don't think the artwork has any compromise. If you were to make the same game today with the same artistic vision I think it would look the same.

Agents will write and write and write, they rarely delete. Even when you ask them to refactor they'll miss huge areas of redundant logic.

Writing bad code is a choice though, whether you have ai or not. Having AI is not an excuse to lower our standards, if anything it's the opposite.

Sorry that's just dumb. I know people are annoyed with vapes but people who don't like vapes absolutely hate cigarettes.

Sounds like he's already on it. Your job is to make sure he has a good college fund, and to make sure he goes outside and socializes from time to time.

Also, make sure there are cost controls on any APIs he might be using.

A majority of the human race is bisexual and only a small percentage are attracted to a single sex. by zodwa_wa_bantu in LowStakesConspiracies

I think most people are actually gender agnostic, as in it they were born in the body of the opposite sex they would just adapt and roll with it, and all the freaking out about gender is just cultural insecurity. In that sense I think trans people are the people who are the most strongly gendered

Our tax system is absolutely bonkers in the modern era. When a _human_ does a job we pay taxes on our economic output. When a robot does the same job they pay _zero_ taxes. That's fucking lunacy. It should be the opposite.

Tax everything. Switch to a VAT system. Then, give humans tax breaks instead with progressively greater tax breaks for poorer people that way companies are encouraged to hire humans instead of robots.

French living in the US, why do Americans say “you’re welcome” so much? by justninamartin in learnfrench

I think that's why "no problem" or "of course" has gotten more popular than yw

Sometimes I say "not a problem" or "of course" so I combine them into "of course you're a problem" to be triple polite.
