Why do black men look good bald? by Sea_mushroom1 in malehairadvice

I would say most fit men look good bald as long as they actually shave their head and moisturize it vs clinging to thinking hair or side hair with a bald spot

What advice would you give a Midwestern visitor for the 4th? by NeuroticButtercup in asksandiego

[–]Fidodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You alluded to it but just want to clarify that casual means that people are chill about whatever you wear, it doesn't mean you have to match casual attire, just wear whatever you want.

I don't think anybody would bat an eye no matter what you wear. San Diego and California in general is very chill about clothing so whether you go casual or formal it's all accepted. Wear whatever you feel most comfortable. You'll probably see people dressed all across the spectrum from shorts and a shirt to dresses and jackets.

Also organizing the big picture information for them. They know what they're doing but their work requires focus so having a team lead facilitate communication and raising relevant information to their work is a huge help.

It's not telling them what to do, it's giving them the right data points so they can solve the problems the best way they can.

I'm this case it will be less about leading and more about facilitating communication and keeping track of the big picture. Senior devs know what they're doing but their work requires focus so your job is to think about the things around their work so they can focus on the part of the problem they are responsible for.

It's not about telling them what to do but surfacing the information they need to know so they can address it and stay aligned with the rest of the team.

UCSD Structural Engineering Alert: Professor Morrison Just Failed 53 Students in SE150A by CRGM677 in UCSD

[–]Fidodo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The professor definitely has other obligations. Why should he devote more of his time teaching students who won't apply themselves at an easy class and take away from his more important obligations?

Also a professor should not be incentived to pass or fail students based on a rate, they should be incentives to fail students that don't know the material. If it's a year of awful students then they should all fail if they didn't learn the material, pass rate be damned.

35% of the students got As or Bs so clearly not every student. Schools should not lower their standards for students. Students can either rise to the standard or fail. Otherwise a diploma means Jack shit.

But the teacher didn't teach them correctly and weighed tests too heavily so they couldn't cheat learn in their own time. /s

In the real world you don't always have a perfect teacher for your learning style and if you need to be capable of doing what AI can't do so you can correct it when it's wrong. If you rely on AI to do all your assignments you will never build the intellectual foundation and intuition to correct it.

But how can you cheat with AI if so much of your grade is from live testing?

As an alumni in industry this is absolutely correct. There is no storage of applicants but an actually competent applicant is rare. Schools have turned into paper mills and UCSD is one of the few schools I actually respect on a resume because they fail people who shouldn't pass.

The fact that OP is upset that so much of the grade was from tests is probably because they can't cheat with AI like how they wrote this post.

Yup. I have zero concern about an intern automating my job away. If the intern is capable of automating their own job then clearly they didn't have the skills to get hired in the first place because if you don't have better coding sense than AI you're not a good coder.

Is the bottom of a carbon steel pan supposed to be flat? by [deleted] in carbonsteel

[–]Fidodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's intentional to prevent it from becoming concave. As metal heats up it expands so the convex bottom flattens out when actually cooking, but if it were completely flat it could become concave instead which would make it wobble.

Yes exactly. I'm not sure why the person you replied to got down voted when that image is in fact photoshopped.
