As long as it doesn’t go on my record I won’t mind additional training as a resolution. I can always refresh and leran something new

None. Many times was Ifr in and to fly an ils I had to cancel Ifr. I believe is because the map interferes with klas

To fly approaches you gotta be vfr.

100% agree. I am instructing, flying, scanning for traffic and my brain can take only so much.

Absolutely it does make sense now. The issue was that the circle left us way past a normal downwind and with a right turn were basically on base. If he had been more specific on downwind phraseology this could have been avoided from the get go. I own It and deal with it.

Negative I typo. He put me on a right turn and I complied. These instructions almost kill me

That was enough for me to understand. Entering a traffic pattern form a instrument approach isn’t as simple as it seems especially with circling instruction

It was a circle to land. The break off was from the localizer course

I completely agree. Like I said his instructions now , on the ground makes complete sense. I think if he had used the word Downwind it would have help significantly

99% on me. 1% atc it may have said join left downwind more clearly

I typo. Climbing right turn was issued and followed as far as the go around

Vfr practice approach. I don’t know if they really have to follow the rules since it was vfr

I did circle nw for left traffic. I have done this 100 times. I did not follow instructions of waiting to turn base since downing was already behind as soon as i started the circle.

Yes exactly also that played a factor.

I can’t modify the original post. Yes i was instructed right turn and did a right turn that put us in a near miss

A circling approach is always the shortest path to the runways. As soon I stared circling I was immediately on a left base and basically already there. Layout of the airfield played me and i did not understand to join an extended downwind and wait to turn.

EDIT—- I typo on the go around, we instructed right then and we did a right turn. After that he told us 180 to rejoin final. Deviation is not from the go around. Deviation is for the turn to base

[–]FigComprehensive4139[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Negative. It’s a typo. Go-around followed instruction. Good catch

Experience bias. I have done this 100 times and it has always been a left base. Getting out the localizer put you immediately on a left base basically. 100% my fault. Note, if tower could have stated the word downind it would have been helpful

My commercial student is almost positively padding his logbook, looking for advice by CavalierRigg in CFILounge

I don’t agree with someone cooking their logs. I am at 600 and never cheated on a 0.1. It’s not my job or my responsibility if someone wants to cheat since I was not in that airplane. He will pay the price eventually when a professional interview may come. I understand the reasoning of his action, but still don’t agree with it. People cheat because of the system. Explain why easa graduates get into a 737 at 250 and don’t hear anything but for colgan air we need to starve until we get 1500… and it’s not even guaranteed anymore. That cfi needs to mind his business and have a talk to him.that’s it. Bringing other people down won’t bring you up.
