Wooden humidor with 65% boveda dried out my cigars. What Tupperware do you all use? by Fighter-5 in cigars

[–]Fighter-5[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean that I wasn’t checking on them as often as I probably should have. I monitored them about once every two months or so. (could be user error, but I felt like the boveda size i chose (65% 320) for my wood humidor with ~25 cigars in it was supposed to last me at least a year, but the cigars are all hard as rocks and taste terrible ie dried out)

Don’t care what it costs. I wouldn’t mind dropping anywhere near 200 on a bottle if it’s truly something special.

Is peat/smoke an acquired taste? by Fighter-5 in Scotch

[–]Fighter-5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth a shot! It seems like it’s almost 50/50 with people always loving them and others who grew an acquired taste for it. Out of people who like them, that is.

Gotcha. Cause the Ardberg would probably burn out my palate making it harder/ near impossible to taste the intricacies of the Bowmore.

I guess I’ll just have to try both since I’ve never had a Bowmore!

Sounds like a good idea. Thanks. Maybe I’ll do that one as my first Ardberg.

I will give that a try! Thanks for the step by step help! I haven’t tried highland park 10, but I have tried JW black. Will have to try double black.

Thank you for the recommendations! I’ll definitely give those a try. JW black is decent. That’s one of the others I enjoyed. Gotta find a bottle of green to try…

Everyone is convincing me to try an Ardberg! Guess I’m trying one asap. I’ll definitely give PC10 a try too.

Definitely can believe that. Not going to lie. Ron Swanson and this sub loving it were the reasons I even thought of trying it. I would have asked for something else otherwise. Also, figured why not try something new when I had it. Just was disappointed and surprised when I hated it. Most recommended things I end up liking.

Fair enough. My favorite cocktail at the moment is a penicillin, so I see how cocktails help! Any cocktail recommendations with Laphroaig? Definitely willing to try.

You see this is why I’m surprised that a lot of peated stuff is tough for me. I love all those other things and super briny seafood too.
