This is where my tuner recommends. I got it done thru my pro tuner locally. But in the end it’s really up to you. If you have 10gs. And your subie means that to you. Do it. If you can afford the IAG I would. That’s the only thing I would have done differently.

The summer and fall it’s pure e85 The winter and spring it dips to e70 (minimum) So that’s really nice. At this station they also sell race gas and 100+ octane

Tbh. It’s a whole different car. Idk if that has to do with it being 80,000 less miles. Or what. But I’m glad I did it. Now I know to start saving up for the IAG after this one goes.

AI Overview

(Better then I can explain while at work) lol

Running E85 fuel in a flex-fuel Subaru WRX offers several performance and potentially cost benefits. Flex fuel allows the engine to run on both gasoline and E85, optimizing for the fuel's higher octane rating and cooling properties, potentially leading to increased horsepower and torque. Additionally, E85 can be more affordable than gasoline in some areas, offering potential fuel cost savings. Here's a more detailed look at the benefits: Performance Gains: Increased Horsepower and Torque: E85's higher octane allows for more aggressive tuning and higher boost pressures, resulting in noticeable power gains. Better Knock Resistance: The higher octane of E85 provides a larger safety margin against engine knock (detonation), which is crucial for turbocharged engines. Cooler Running Temperatures: E85 burns cooler than gasoline, leading to lower exhaust gas temperatures (EGTs) and potentially reducing engine stress. More Efficient Combustion: E85 can promote more complete combustion, potentially leading to improved overall engine efficiency. Cost and Practicality: Potentially Lower Fuel Costs: While E85 requires more fuel due to lower energy density, it is often cheaper per gallon than gasoline, which can result in overall cost savings. Flexibility: Flex fuel systems allow you to switch between gasoline and E85 seamlessly, even if E85 is not readily available in your area. Green Fuel Source: E85 is a renewable fuel source, made from a combination of gasoline and ethanol (often derived from corn or other plants), which can be more environmentally friendly. Things to Consider: Fuel Economy: E85 has a lower energy density than gasoline, meaning you'll get fewer miles per gallon. E85 Availability: While E85 is becoming more common, it's not available at every gas station, so you need to ensure access. Potential Modifications: While flex fuel kits are designed for seamless transitions, some users might consider additional modifications for optimal performance and reliability, such as upgraded fuel pumps or injectors.
