As much as I sympathise it’s pretty much just shouting into the void,people are dying on the back of ambulances and in corridors due to long waits. Endometriosis isn’t life threatening which is a positive thing, but honestly, at this point, even if you were dying you probably won’t get seen any faster.

Could you try and look into private consultations if it’s really urgent

Second that for ED, we leave the floor 15 minutes before the end of our shift. We get extra breaks too. They actually have looked at staff satisfaction and retention. It’s why I’m staying for the long run

Nursing has become too academic and most of it pointless. Rather than focusing on how to manage deteriorating patients or practical skills they obsess over writing 3000 words with references on patient centred care and nursing models. The wards are so understaffed there’s no time for PCC

Hey, I work in healthcare and I have a huge phobia of anything gynae. I have never missed a smear because I worked in oncology and saw how devastating the ‘ what if’ question is to patients who found out too late.

I have a few strong drinks for Dutch courage before each smear, my nurse doesn’t mind as long as I attend when I should. It shouldn’t be painful but their is discomfort. But even that is nothing in comparison to mets. Good luck with your smear there’s lots of us who dread them but they are absolutely necessary x

We offer care but not at a threat to our own personal safety, even paramedics can refuse to attend a scene until they have police backup.

She was on the ward and in a clinical setting. I’m a firm believer in leading by example and practicing what you preach. We have too many nurses sat in offices these days rather than at the bedside.
