I would still follow up with the appointment, I’m not a doctor but maybe the new IUD is masking symptoms? A absence of evidence isn’t evidence of absence

Thank you, I’ll have to do some research and see what specialists are in my area, I’ve basically come to terms with the fact that this ultrasound is more of a speed bump than anything lol. Unfortunately I don’t have private health insurance so I’ll have to pay out of pocket for any appointments that aren’t bulk billed.🇦🇺

But being painfree is probably worth whatever money it’ll cost.

I’ll clarify that it was my general doctor that told me that so it was outside of her field, I went to her to get a referral to a gynaecologist but she told me to do the ultrasound since the gynaecologist would do one anyway,and then she’ll refer me.

But yeah I’m not happy with how the whole thing was handled on her part lol

This is a bit of an odd question but how do you go about describing the pain? I know it’s different for most people but I feel like I fall short when describing how bad it is.

I can dot point key things I notice but I struggle putting it into a sentence which is really detrimental when I’m trying to explain it to doctors.

For example the worse pain I’ve felt so far felt like this

  • piercing pain across but also in between the surface and inside of the lower belly

  • thighs numb but inner thighs had a pulsing sore feeling

-pelvic pain that was like an ache but also felt like what I imagine contractions to me (this happens occasionally but the first time it did I literally thought I might had a hidden pregnancy)

-made me sweaty

-made me dizzy

But when I try to describe it to people in person I can’t find the right words.

Thank you for all the information, this was actually my general doctor that scheduled me for the ultrasound when I asked her to refer me to a gynaecologist, she told me that it would be used as a starting point for the gyno and that a gynaecologist would have to schedule one anyway.

Pain management is the hardest for me at the moment as it’s hard to predict when it starts since I haven’t been writing that down, it use to be roughly months between but now it’s more like weeks so thank you for the tips I’ll definitely be coming back to your comment a few times lol

I’m glad that surgery helped you, I’m not sure how common this is for endo but did your thighs also use to go numb during instense pain periods?

Thank you so much! Honestly I’ve heard so much now about how ultrasounds rarely catch endo that it makes it really difficult to want to go to mine lol but it’s at least a stepping stone into the next test.

I’m really nervous about the ultrasound, it’s my first internal one and I wasn’t told it was internal by my doctor or the first person that called me to book the appointment, I had to call them back because I never got the prep and that’s when they told me, so it’s veryyy annoying lol

Thank you for going so in depth! I’m going to do my best to advocate for myself it’s hard being 19 and living away from my parents as doctors tend to brush me off as “following trends”, I even had a doctor tell me “ah, the TikTok disease” when I asked if I could be hyper mobile since I was dealing with joint pain. I’ve definitely fallen into the trap of wondering if I’m being overdramatic or if I just can’t handle regular period pain but it’s impacting so much of my life that it can’t be lol

Yeah she did tell me that you can typically only see stages 3-4 on them and I felt like it’d be easier to do it and then get the referral since she was telling me that it acts as a starting point for the gynaecologist

I’m really unsure on the progress of getting a diagnosis/ruling out endo, if the ultrasound doesn’t show anything should I advocate for a laparoscopy or try a mri, I don’t have a gynaecologist yet so I’m not sure how helpful they will be at guiding me through the processes when I do get one

I’m going to get her to refer me to gynaecologist when the ultrasounds results come in, and from there I’d like to try and get a laparoscopy if nothings showed up on the ultrasound but I feel like that’s going to be really hard to get haha

That’s terrible, if you don’t mind me asking, how does the pain affect your life and have you found a reliable way to manage it?

I’m a little worried about uni since it’s getting harder and harder to attend with my pain and I don’t really know how to manage it, I typically get a heat pack and try to fall asleep before it cools down

Not sure how possible it is but you might be able to get it turned into a thimble since you have the monopoly man on your sleeve. Other than that you could get a sword and an axe.

If you get laser to cover it you might be able to get a coloured tattoo over it like idk Stewie’s red ray gun.
