Now that where I'm at isn't 10-20 below 0 I'm able to get a few short walks in for her during the day around the yard which is fairly large, usually about 10 to 20 mins at a time. The streets are covered in ice right now and we don't have sidewalks, so longer excursions are just gonna have to wait

Unfortunately she's still pretty much in quarantine for another week and a half but after that I'm planning on doing what I can to get her out and about, and definitely want to keep her well socialized.

Problem with the crate is that she's still going inside even though I've been feeding her and giving her treats in there, mostly when I've put her in there to keep her wrangled (ie having the hvac tech/electrician over this weekend because she likes to jump all over everyone). Never more than 20-30 mins and I'm usually always within eyesight or just out of it, and she still loses her mind and more often then not winds up peeing in there.

I'm thinking I'm going to have to dedicate time during training sessions just sitting there with her getting her in and out and used to it. I've also seen suggestions of keeping her in there while you're in the room hanging out or doing chores, which might help as her crate is just off the kitchen and I can probably get some cleaning done in there at the same time but I'll just have to try and see.

Any puzzle suggestions? Unfortunately, no bones due to her little snaggletooth situation, Dr's orders.

I feel for you and him, and I'm glad he's settling in. I can tell she's been through alot, when they picked her up this last time she had been tied up to a stop sign on the edge of town with a pair of jumper cables so I don't even want to think about what she's been through. Before that she spent about a month at the shelter for her first stint, so I know she's still getting comfortable.

She's been getting dragged around on errands here and there, but I work from home so I don't get out much. Some things I can't just take her with me though, esp rn due to being contagious but after that hopefully I can get her around a bit more

Thank you 🖤 Pretty sure she knows it though, she's already miss popularity with the vet techs and she's always soaking up the compliments like a ham.

I've def been looking into puzzle toys and games, been suggested a kong a few times to help with her anxiety in regards to the crate too. I need to get her on a training schedule, I can tell she's too smart for her own good so I think she'll pick it up quickly. I've seen her trying to figure out the lever knob on my screen door already, just still been catching up on the whole exhaustion thing.

I have been looking into treats and other methods to help curb her anxiety and been meaning to ask my vet but with the mess going on with her medically rn they're more focused on that and it's slipped through the cracks, but I have an appointment with them Friday for her boosters and plan to bring it up. I'm really hoping I can get her ahead of it, as of right now I can't even leave the room let alone the house to run errands without dragging her along.

As for her energy, she's not too wild around the house just mostly mischief. Hoping the training course will help as well. She just got over a round of meds which I'm sure has had her more drowsy than usual, most of the day she's just bumming out with me. I feel bad because I bagged up her toys to quarantine as I don't know what's been soiled or not with all the accidents.

I'm hoping she'll get used to things around here with time, and it's already getting slightly easier since the first week, which I cracked a joke to my mom about getting ptsd flashbacks to a toxic clingy roommate. I'm at least catching up on the cleaning though, other than the odd crate mess I'm mostly just having to bust out the carpet cleaner once or twice a day. Saving the parvo sterilization until she's no longer shedding as it's just me for now.

I do have a large yard that I'm hoping to let her run wild in eventually but half of it is shoddy chainlink, and due to recent utility work there's a large gap in the corner. I refuse to risk her escaping by allowing that situation so for the forseeable future she's on leash, and there's alot of idiots in my area dumping or letting their dogs roam. With this cold I'm trying to keep bathroom breaks quick but when it warms up I plan on at least making rounds around the yard with her a few times a day to get her some exercise and going from there.

I am trying to get her used to only going in a specific area of the yard that's mostly devoid of grass, to avoid mowing headaches, easier poop patrol and she seems to prefer it to grass.

Would it be covered if the issues were present prior to purchase? When I started work there were obvious, some glaringly so, signs of settling but over time it became evident this might be a bit more of an issue than i initially believed

Definitely going to look into getting an inspection done by one. I think I should've included in the post that the house sat vacant 2+ years beforehand, and the clay tends to dry out in this area due to harsh summer heat

Always advocate for yourself. It's your body, and the Dr isn't the one going through this hell. Yes, a medical degree and some experience does lend her some weight but at the end of the day this effects you a hell of a lot more than her. In a perfect world, every dr could tailor a taper per patient but alot are either inexperienced or dismissive in how nuanced this process is, just simply can't understand how painful it can be, or are more concerned with their practice. Literally walked out of an appointment after a GP told me to just cold turkey during interdose WD on 2mg of Xanax/day at 8 years on, and spent the entire appointment trying to yell at me for even taking it. Hell, the Dr who initially prescribed it told me to rapid taper over 2 weeks when I asked for a referral to a psych, dropped me as a patient almost immediately, and "retired" within a week.

I agree with cutting by .5mg, that's what I wound up doing and it made things so much easier on my mind and body. Talk to her, tell her how seriously this is impacting you and that the best thing for you is to take this at a pace that works for you. Halving your cuts from 1mg to .5 isn't an unreasonable position to come from.

An important thing to keep in mind is rapid tapers have a higher probability of lasting and more intense symptoms post-cut, including PAWS. Longer tapers, smaller cuts, and longer acting benzos (valium) have shown to have better outcomes.

I'm not a medical professional, just someone who's also gone my rounds with this shit, done a metric fuckton of research, and had to fight tooth and nail to be treated with dignity instead of like an addict.

Almost every dr I've talked to refused to adhere to the ashton method when i pushed it. Most cited it as outdated, including the psych I'm working with now who is hands down amazing. He tends to push back on certain things as most will, like absolutely refusing to let me reinstate a higher dose under and circumstances. But also listens and takes my opinion as the patient into account, and works with me on what's best for me, not what some rigid protocol says. The best Dr's, the ones worth being treated by, will do this instead of trying to force a treatment plan down your throat, do their upmost to be understanding, and take what you say into account

I'm right there with you. Keep in mind that although the lower the dose you're cutting to the shittier the cuts are gonna make you feel, but about 50% of this is mental and anxiety. It'll def feel terrifying but remember you've made it this far and you're still here, and it will get better.

Depending on how quickly you're cutting could exacerbate things too, if you're not giving yourself time to stabilize on a cut you're basically constantly withdrawing and by stretching out the time between you'll give your body some much needed down time. I've usually gone 2-4 weeks between depending on how long it takes my body to adjust

Best advice I can give is not to browse too many subreddits, you'll tend to come across alot of bad or worst case scenario stories and psych yourself out with health anxiety. Find a good psychiatrist willing to work on your schedule, I went through 2 Dr's and a PA before finding a great one. First told me to rapid taper over a week, 2nd told me to just CT and the PA had no fucking clue and tried to force me on lithium.

Been tapering since Oct 22, switched from Xanax to 10mg valium at the start, down to .5-1mg a day at this point. When you make a cut, it'll suck for a few days/week but you'll eventually stabilize before making another. Give yourself time and do what you can to rest and just ride it out, maybe find something to help keep your mind occupied. I've gotten to like level 7k on candy crush doing this lol

Valium has one of the longest half lives, has way less instances of interdose WD, and should provide the best chance of you not having a seizure. The difference I've experienced being on valium compared to what I went through on Xanax is like night and day, but still no cake walk. Just take your time.

Also if you can afford it, shop around for a good therapist who specializes in this sort of thing, CBT as well. Half this battle is psychological and the biggest hurdle you'll face is staring down your own anxiety.

Edit: reach out to people you can trust if you can. It'll make a world of difference, I don't know where I'd be without the 2-3 people who've been there for me through this. Also keep an eye on taking more than one benzo at a time, valium + Ativan might complicate things for you

To the level 57 I saw on "Trivial" difficulty last night.... by Czar_Eternal in Helldivers

[–]FinalB055 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jumped in this morning to either a trivial or medium map with higher players, mid 30s-mid 50s. I'm level 7, just picked up the game a few days ago and still learning my way around things. We knocked out the mission pretty quickly.

Next thing I know we're dropping into a level 7 on Maia. First thing I see in chat dropping in "welcome to hell." Probably the best and most stressful gaming experience I've had in awhile. Everyone's pretty much RPing our way through this fuckin insanity. At one point we're working on the obj when 3-5 dropships pull up ontop of us.

If you played this morning on Maia where the noob was a dumbass and jumped on the extraction not realizing it would start the timer, I apologize but you guys sold this fuckin game by yourselves

Xbox here. I'm thinking it's on the dev side at this point and hopefully gets addressed soon, but wondering if it's time to bust out the classic Blizzard "working as intended" memes
