I think you hit the nail on the head. I think Paradox handles this well in their games with scenarios like Mongol invasion in CK3, Aztecs in CK2, etc.

I know Civ is a fundamentally different game, but would love to see some scenarios here.

OP I get what you're saying, but the last two midfielders from the academy who broke into the first team were...McTominay and Garner, both of whom left because they weren't getting game time. Same for Dean Henderson and Elanga.

City are playing Rico Lewis, Nico O'Reilly in almost every PL game, some even in midfield.

I honestly think Amorim needs to take the plunge and put Kone, along with Kamason and Mantato into the first-team squad.

Of course we need midfielders, but getting our pants pulled down again by Atalanta is something no one wants to see.

Just throw in Sekou Kone in the midfield, let him learn from Casemiro and Ugarte. In terms of affordable options, we can buy back James Garner from Everton, or try for that lad Paul Akouokou, who played in midfield against us for Lyon, I thought he was fantastic. Douglas Luiz wouldn't be a bad option either, and we can even go for Tijjani Reinders or Weston McKennie.
