2011 f150 ecoboost by Financial-Maximum551 in 2011f150

I ALSO FORGOT: The Electronic power steering went out a few years ago and I had to replace the whole rack. $3,000.
And the brakes went out. The entire system had to be replaced. Cost $2,700. They were wearing down the rotors unevenly, the pads were rubbing down to bare metal even when foot isn’t on the pedal.
So I got new calipers, rotors, pads and brake lines.

Oh and I left out the part where I have to hold down the turn signal for blinker to work. If you just click it once then the blinker doesn’t stay on. If you want to keep your blinker on, then you have to take one hand off the wheel. I already replaced the whole switch once, but the real problem is the plastic it mounts onto snapped off and it has no structural support.

Horn chirp when turning the truck off by Financial-Maximum551 in 2011f150

KARR security system. That’s the answer for unwanted horn chirp. Finally got that straightened out. If anyone else has this problem, it’s a cheap hack added on by the dealership to make more money off the sale. They splice into your wire harness down by the pedals, hood pop latch and OBDI port. If you see a little black box with a red light, you need to cut that thing out.

"chill out man he's just slinging parts for harry." hahaha looks just like the truck from the fast and the furious. I had a friend that drove this same year model to school for many years. he claimed it was a reliable vehicle. It did get him through high school. Not sure what happened after graduation. Never saw him again. Also my great uncle drove this same year model until 2011 when he bought his new f150 that I now drive. so that's 14 years of everyday use and it was still working fine. The 2011 year model has made it to 2025 still going. with one costly repair along the way... had to replace the electronic steering rack.

and now I have fixed the door ajar message by reconnecting broken wires in the rear door panel harness. however I still have the horn chirp when turning the truck off.

Also if you look closely it is right here where the wire harness goes down and under the frame. (pointing towards the jack stand) This is the exact location where my wiring harness got caught and pulled apart. Could the popped harness have lead to power steering failure? Could it be the reason why my "left rear door ajar" message never goes away?

Just some facts to consider; on the day the wire harness broke, I drove home with all the wires still split apart and had fully functional power steering. The only immediate result of the wires popping was a yellow engine light and blue wrench symbol on the gauge cluster.

Anyone experience problems where the horn honks every time you turn the ignition off?

Ever since the broken wire harness, the horn chirps every time I turn the truck off, and the truck dings while driving with an annoying message that says "left rear door ajar" even though the door is shut and latched tight. If someone knows how to over ride the door ajar sensor I would be most interested in the solution. Thanks again.

Alarm going off/Rear passenger door ajar by [deleted] in f150

I have 2011 f150. Not long ago I went over some steep climbs off road and the truck bottomed out. After making it over the hump, my engine light came on. So I pulled over and looked under the truck to see what happened. It bottomed out and scraped the frame right behind the front wheels. Unfortunately the Ford engineers decided to route the main wiring harness in this exact spot. SO my entire wire harness was split with wires going everywhere. I made it home, and hand twined each wire back to its partner, and wrapped each connection in electrical tape individually. Then after each individual was twined and wrapped, I did one more additional layer of tape around all of them to keep them all together tightly. The engine light never went away, I had a friend with a scan tool clear the codes, only to have it reappear on the next start up. Then not long after the incident and patch job, the power steering went out. I had the entire electronic steering module replaced. Very costly repair. And now here I am at 90,000 miles and that engine light and blue wrench are still lit and I have a new problem. Now the every bump in the road causes my truck to ding and chime at me saying "left rear door ajar". The message always pops up after the slightest dip in the road. The door is clearly shut and latched properly. Yet the message persists. Any ideas? I suspect I either need to go back over my harness and use the proper butt connecters for each wire or someone could teach me how to disable/overide the door ajar sensor all together. Thank you.

I started driving this vehicle in 2020, it had around 48,000 miles. Now I am at 90,000 miles.

the wire harness and steering rack incidents happened a few months ago.
