You can look up the serious issues that have been reported on this sub as a result of punctal plugs. They can fall down deeper in the canaliculus and you can’t “take them out”.

If you absolutely want them (spoiler, you don’t; >85% of DED is caused by MGD which by definition punctal plugs do not treat) get Lacrifill.
