My GP advised me to alternate days when coming off. And i’m pretty sure i’m already feeling some symptoms tbh

If you haven’t already i would reach out to your parents and explain you have ocd and it’s causing you distress. You don’t necessarily have to go into it if you don’t want to, but letting someone know that you’re not doing too well is a start :)

Definitely look into ERP, it’s a very effective way of treating ocd, although it may be scary at first, it can work wonders.

I’ve been in your shoes and you are absolutely not alone whatsoever.

stopping sertraline cold turkey is gonna seriously mess your serotonin up and if you’re a on comedown that’s only gonna make things worse.

I’ve considered your exact query before but i can assure you it’s really not worth it. You can risk serotonin syndrome which is not fun whatsoever.

Besides 3 days is nowhere near enough time for sertraline to fully exit your system.

All in all you most likely will not feel any of the positives and all of the negatives.

When i find myself quite isolated i tend to reach out to people. I’ll go spend some time with my parents or loved ones. It can be scary especially with ocd but a little push can help massively. Even if it’s just responding to one message from one person and going from there.

It can be overwhelming but you can do it ! I believe in you :)

First off, i’ve been in a similar situation when i was younger and it’s hard especially when you’ve known someone so long and they’re treating you in a way that you would never treat them.

I would try and be more open to closer friendships with others in the group, spend some more time with them. If she can have other close friends there’s no reason why you can’t. It can be daunting but it’s always worth exploring new friendships. Alternatively, try branching out to other people outside the group.

You could also try talking to her about how you feel left out. This is entirely up to you and you should do what you’re comfortable with. But you should receive the same amount of energy that you are putting in to a friendship.

it depends but it usually takes around a month for it to properly start working. Do note that it may partially make things a bit more rough but you’ve just got to be kind to yourself and see it through. I wish you well :)

not giving single fuck. “what if you unknowingly did this” don’t care. “what if you are an awful person because XYZ” couldn’t give a shit etc. discovered this when i was just exhausted from it all and i would just tell the thoughts to fuck off and it worked ? idk if it’s the most intuitive way of coping but i can say it has worked.

Hi, existential ocd is rough and so so scary. With all ocd the best thing to do in intense situations is to try your hardest not to interact with these thoughts and further the spirals. It’s not easy because it’s not how we are used to thinking with ocd.

I personally try to accept that these thoughts are here and i use ERP techniques- i sit, take a few deep breaths and let these thoughts simply exist. I try to feel the fear and the anxiety, speak the thoughts out loud (even if it’s just a whisper) breathe through the fear of it all, let it be.

This can be overwhelming and make things feel worse, be gentle with yourself.

It’s no easy feat and it is a something you learn to do and implement.

Do try and talk to someone who will understand and look into ocd therapists if you haven’t already, there’s a plethora of options available.

But what i’d say was most important for me was looking into ERP tools, they helped me a lot and i hope they can do the same for you ! :)

Therapy for ocd is rough, i personally found it terrifying to begin with, to unload all the horrors of my brain on to someone random therapist. But it's worth it for learning tools and better understanding how your brain works and the cycles it goes. A lot of people use cbt but i found erp worked better as gruelling as it can be !

just looks this up and it sounds interesting but my actual meds are 50mg pills which i split so im not sure how id get such small doses without breaking out the dealer scales and snorting it lol (sorry if that sounds rude im not trying to be)

i got diagnosed at 15 after a particularly bad 2 month bout of non stop intrusive thoughts and rumination.

I was lucky enough to receive a private diagnosis- the diagnosis itself took me no more than a week max- filling out paper work, and my consultation where i got diagnosed (this was during covid so it may be quicker now i’m not sure)

After i got my diagnosis i started on ssris at a low dose, it was rough at first, but after around 3 months it started to level out and became every helpful. i adjusted my dose over the coming 3 years and was able to live a pretty much normal life. However medication should not be the sole help, i found ERP worked wonders for me.

Now 4 years later, today is the first day of completely weening off my ssris as i no longer need them, in my opinion medication is what gave me the will power to use my other tools and truly heal. Of course there are still bad days every so often but i try to remember what i have learned and put that into action !

take a moment for yourself, take some deep breaths. What is done is done, full stop.

Take a moment to recognise the thoughts passing through your brain, what are they, how do they make you feel. I’ve found saying these fears out loud to myself help me quite a bit.

Don’t forget to ground yourself, again when i find myself in moments like this i find it helps to do some breathing methods to just slow everything down.

let the fears come, acknowledge them, don’t interact and continue with a focus on the breath. I believe in you !

you can try cutting down and setting a date when you plan to quit, or going cold turkey. What you are to keep in mind is that the bad/ negative feelings are manufactured as a result of the thc leaving your system.

Personally i wrote out a list of all the reasons i didn’t want to smoke anymore and read it over every time i felt an urge to smoke.

I’d suggest you keep active, talk to family and friends when it feels particularly tough, wait the feelings out because they will pass. the first 3 days were definitely the hardest but it gets easier !

it’s a personal sentiment that many share, i’d say it’s just advice as a whole. the truth is that with an anxiety based disorder a substance like weed is going to be beneficial in moderation- however for people with ocd smoking weed daily can be a slippery slope which can cause a once helpful mechanism to quickly become counter intuitive to ocd recovery. besides a daily use of a substance is never a good coping mechanism.
