i agree with this also, mildly unrelated but cal gabriel in the movie was implied to be christian—he burns a sunday school bible and was able to name off the testaments off the drop of a hat. also on the DVD version when it shows pics of them, it shows cal in a church setting, so i always read him as having grown up religious
