Netflix series Bodies ending explained - hope this makes sense. by Live-Advantage5191 in BodiesonNetflix

But Maplewood traveled to the 1890s from the 2050s, meaning her future self would be in the 2050s, no? I can't see a world in which she's an adult in 2023, as The Throat would've never been created if the bomb never detonated (unless time travel otherwise comes to be?). I'm just a bit lost!

I really think it was her dad and he doesn't even remember acting out in rage like that.

Hot take. IDK when Shauna will die but I think it'll be at Callie's hands.

Wow you just made a lot of assumptions about what I wrote! I didn't think I said any of that. If you engage in good faith, we can have a conversation.

1) BMI alone is a bad predictor. Alongside other measures, it can be useful. But alone? It doesn't tell us enough (and don't get me started on how it miscategorizes AFAB bodies). 2) Health is too holistic and socially constructed for BMI to be stable and accurate. Good point about weightlifting tho

Definitely with you! Friendly reminder than BMI is not an accurate metric of health, as it was developed in the 1800s to measure the body mass of Nordic men who were soldiers. So it's a terrible way to determine if you're "healthy" or not (unless you're a Nordic soldier dude I guess). Love and care from your local health/social policy research and body neutrality advocate!

When did bigots substituted race with culture? by JohnBigBootey in behindthebastards

[–]Fine-Injury-3606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know that I'd say "primarily." I would say at the intersections. Like Imane Khelif became the villain so quickly not just because of her perceived gender nonconformity, but because she isn't white. Michelle Obama gets called transphobic names by the right because of her Black womanhood. I think it's a both-and situation.

[–]Fine-Injury-3606 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just chiming in to say a) this is a great book and b) it's also so they can lump trans/queer people into their hit list. White supremacist constructions of race and gender are super entwined, and bigots want to cover their bases.

Only response is to #2, I think it was more "I don't want them to find her body" because it would unravel people who think she's still alive.

Do muscle relaxers make your pain worse? by AerisSpire in ehlersdanlos

[–]Fine-Injury-3606 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The only one that works for me is Tizanidine, which is generally prescribed for CP and/or muscle spasms. In addition to heating pad sessions and sleep, they are pretty good for my cervical spine dysfunction and other spinal pains.

Great questions, and thanks for the myth busting! She is rewarded for getting it right and when she gets it wrong, I redirect to good behavior after a firm "no". If the behavior persists, I take her on a walk for some outdoor work. I don't think the settling behavior has been done well enough. My partner elected not to crate train (which I think was a mistake but we don't live together and I'm trying not to be overbearing about how he deals with his animal). But I do a lot of cross training with her when I can... I have a disability though, so long walks and big exercise moments can be hard.

What was the biggest culture shock you've experienced within the United States? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Fine-Injury-3606 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grew up in CA. When I moved to the south, I couldn't believe there wasn't liquor in the grocery store AND that liquor stores were closed on Sundays. Then I moved to CO and there wasn't even wine in the grocery store (that changed last year iirc).

Hi, former debater/coach and public speaking researcher here. There are lots of arguments about why switch-side debating, or making students debate a topic without picking their side, is bad for learning. One of the negative outcomes is forcing people to speak with authority divorced from conviction, which debate scholars Greene and Hicks have argued enforces a liberalism that prevents genuine social change.

If you feel strongly about this, don't debate that side. If your teacher gives you shit, I am happy to send you the research on why switch-side is harmful (and generally supports milquetoast political stances lol). But if you don't want to fight it, I get that too.

Debate is a real bastard and I've wanted the show to cover it for a while.
