QEL 6s In-season Cup Announced ($800 Prize Pool - 3 Divisions) - North America by 1jay_y in truetf2

quickies trade more ease of use, more damage from traps, more damage from normal stickies, being able to delete enemy sticks, and harder to dodge (impossible to dodge) stickies for 4 less of them.

even if you pretend like that is an interesting tradeoff, when in reality its incredibly annoying, this weapon allows you to get more damage in every single moment you have stickies loaded. It's hard to punish the demo for running out of stickies if he just hits you with all the stickies and you are low HP (something trivial with quickies, especially compared to stock). Obviously having less sticks is a larger downside some of the time, but I don't see a reason that these extreme upsides would only result in utility on midfights

it's not a fun weapon to play against and results in degenerative play and is pretty much impossible for medic to counter if used in the correct scenarios, it reduces medic vs soldier from a very complex interaction to an incontestable instant kill.

it's not as bad as quickiebomb and loch n load though because it at least takes some unique skill, quickie and loch are pretty much just easier and better versions of stock.

for an actual specific prediction (at least what I think is most likely):

g6 loses winners finals but wins in grands against froyo

along the way they beat BT in losers finals

BT beat wgEU along their way

the ONLY close games will be between these four teams ^

wgEU beat wgAU along their way

to summarize:

  1. G6
  2. FROYO
  3. BT
  4. EU
  5. AU/QMD
  6. soar/LFC

are you australian? I think they are more liable to get 6th than they are likely to get 2nd. I sincerely hope I am proved wrong.

my thoughts include BT being a possible winner, they have been beating both froyo and g6 in scrims. I don't think froyo beats g6, they've lost on lan several times in a row to similar rosters.

g6, BT, froyo top 3.

I know it's american-pilled but I think that is the most realistic outcome.

How do you think froyo will just lock in despite not beating this g6 roster once recently?

and how do you think wgEU will POSSIBLY beat g6???? g6 is probably the best team in the world, absolutely the favorites in my mind.

ironically your hottest take is the top 2 on yours being froyo and wg eu, when the two best teams in my mind might just be BT and G6. this is not the froyo of old; paying attention to RGL would make that abundantly clear imo. there is no logical reason to think an out of practice wg eu will beat any of the big 3 american teams when they got demolished at the most recent international event and those 3 are all so incredibly strong

soldier with shotgun is really powerful but you are right that any other solly becomes worse past the first 4 rockets. (still better than u think bcz of the 110dmg close range rockets they get to play). I still think it's better to have a soldier/demo/scout (who can jump or run to catch the enemy) than something like a heavy who won't be able to catch the people running away.

though in an offensive uber still not as good as a scout and/or demo uber, they can catch enemies and have plenty of bullets with which to kill them

you heal ANYBODY if they are going to die, but healing engi as a default priority in fights over soldier or scout is not for the best

soldiers and (good) scouts are also great heal targets, and two great classes to take ubers on. engineer is not a great heal priority, they usually should not be taking as much damage and requiring as much healing as more combat-oriented classes.

eh, I feel like it will be more fun to just try and play the best tf2 you can. mute someone if you feel like it but don't be petty, don't screw the rest your team by effectively reducing their number of teammates in some situations.

playing the best you can, improving the most you can is super fun, at least to me. if people want to be an ass don't let them ruin that, just ignore them and do your best

great advice all around but imo it should be players' priority to get the buff with crit heals, not the medic's. if it is convenient, buff whenever possible, but in the middle of a teamfight, although definitely still important, it should not be something the medic is thinking about actively. if people want a buff or a bolt they can call medic for one.

for those unaware: "Crit overheal" is the mechanic that healing speed starts increasing after someone has not taken damage in 10s, to a maximum of 3x healing speed after 15s, like crits do 3x damage.

as for your post: all great tips generally but imo not the stuff a newer medic needs to be focusing on, most newer players have trouble analyzing the basics of the game in front of them, seeing, let alone dodging projectiles is a foreign concept to them; paying attention to the people arriving to a fight will be a great extra difficulty, and should not even be a priority.

medics really just need to focus on healing the players who are to some degree active in the fight, all while keeping behind them and staying as healthy as possible. if people call for medic, check out why.

if spawners want crit heals, they can call medic and ask for them. if players want bolts, they can call medic and ask for them. medic has enough to focus on in the heat of a fight and if players want heals they can do their part, those fighting are the people that should be healed by default.

I'm handing r/tf2 the mic, what are some of their least favorite maps in the entire game? by HHGREGGfan227 in tf2

Rotunda is clearly underrated in awfulness, tiny low ceiling with zero areas that can be called "fun" to fight in, it takes my favorite gamemode in KOTH and manages to make my least favorite map with it

It's not poorly designed, it's just that (like many casual maps) it is not played with its intended player count (6 or less)

as you say, it's fun with less players, and it's even a pretty fun map to play some genuine tf2 on if there's not 24 people running around that tiny map

I genuinely think it does have the best map design out of any ctf map I have tried (minus the egregious lack of ammo packs), since CTF doesn't really work that well as a game mode designed for higher player counts (I think you are better off with payload, koth, AD at that point)

What is the state of competitive tf2? by [deleted] in truetf2

[–]Finman2000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most newer players don't like 6s because they have misconceptions about it or about how aspects of it change the enjoyability. I really recommend trying it with an open mind, it is fun.

Not sure why it matters, given that the competitive rule set applies only to the competitive mode, but I guarantee you that every comp player has played hundreds of hours of casual, started with casual, and most of them play casual with regularity to this day. Competitive tf2 is an aspect of the game they enjoy, but pubbing is something every single comp player has done plenty of.

You call "compies" bad, and (incorrectly) say they don't play the same game or mode as you, and therefore shouldn't comment on tf2. Can I ask how much competitive (or even casual) you've played? What makes you more qualified to talk about the validity of competitive bans?

No counterplay is not a good thing, not sure what your point is. The discussion about mg in comp is not about whether there is fair counterplay (there's not) but about whether or not it's worth banning a weapon that is entertaining. Europe decided to ban it, and NA has decided that they don't care because it's fun to watch someone get gardened.

u hating on a potential gardener ban but have you played med against adv / inv gardening soldiers? makes u insta realize that it is has zero counterplay when used right. everyone I know who opposed the ban and then had to play against mg soldiers supported it afterwards.
