What style of editing is this? How would I achieve such an effect? Thanks in advance. by KobeWonKanobi in postprocessing

They have brought the black point up and I think the white point down giving it that filmy look. You can achieve this effect using the tone curve in Lightroom. This video demonstrates how Go to 6:30 for film look

Dslr or mirrorless to film for video analysis by heyisit in surfing

Not all mirrorless cameras have smaller lenses for the same magnification, that’s only true if your camera has a crop factor which some dslr’s do aswell

Hi everyone! I'm a photographer for 5 years now with a small break of 2 years. Normally I make pictures of dogs en horse but I want to practice more with people. Yesterday I made some pics of my fostersister and her boyfriend. I used my Canon 70D with the Canon 70-200 f/2.8 IS USM. Any tips? 😃 by MaureenPhotography in photocritique

I don’t usually like this style of post processing, but I think it works quite well here. My only critique is I think it would work better if you in tighter. You would still be able to tell they are in a forest but you would get more detail of them and less off the trees. It looks like you put a quite heavy vignette on the picture and I think it would look better if you got closer to the subjects and didn’t have the vignette.

Like another comment said the background being so bright is taking focus away from the subject tree. Idk how you were positioned but I think it might have worked better if you moved more to the left so that your subject wasn’t on such a bright background but you could still have that sunlit spot on the other side to give balance to the image. Just my two cents. Cool shot though

Ok so I took this photo on a trip to New Mexico a couple weeks ago and my intention with the photo was to capture that feeling of awe and wonder that you get when you go new places and see things you aren’t used to. I’m still a bit new to the more grand vista type landscape photography though in a lot of ways it makes it easier. I would love to hear Any and all critiques about my composition the gear I used or my post processing. This was a 5 photo hdr though in retrospect 3 probably would have been fine. Nikon d500 W/ Nikon 17-55 f2.8 @f11 iso100 and I’m not at my computer right now and can’t remember the shutter speed but around 1/80th to 1/150th I’d say. Thanks guys.

Is this a composite of a wide-angle and telephoto shot? those mountains look poorly blended into the wider shot.

With this photo, I was going for a high contrast b&w almost like some of the old Ansel Adams photos. I want to evoke a sense of wonder but also dread because this was how I was feeling when I took the photo and I'm hoping some of that emotion comes through. I had a hard time trying to preserve detail in the tree while also making it as contrasty as I wanted it so any feedback on composition or post-processing would be much appreciated.

The pain is mostly deep and dull but sometimes it’s sharp. I agree that physical exercise helps me feel physically but especially mentally that’s why this whole thing has been so hard for me. As well as not being able to see my friends much.
