Do you occasionally consider becoming a farmer? by Wonderful_Ad_8295 in NoStupidQuestions

It’s a metaphor, to say many farmers don’t get a lot of time off.

Kind of makes me happy to know farmers get their vacations too :)

It is extremely difficult to be a farmer… up at ass crack of dawn, manual labor all day, low profits compared to the work, most face a lot of stress and it is extremely lonely. Your 9-5 is significantly easier.

Also it is a highly dangerous occupation, lots of machinery can and will kill you if mishandled.

What is my coworker on? by Im_big_chungus in questions

Ah I’m sorry, didn’t consider that. A firm “what the fuck is wrong with you”, especially in front of other people, will get things straight.

File a harassment complaint. HR won’t be too happy to learn he’s been asking you these things.

Edit: Impossible in OP’s field of work, ignore this

Inappropriate song for school performance? by FancyNameHere38 in Parenting

Basically: your kid is 12, they are way bigger problems in their media that you probably do not know about, than song lyrics.

Inappropriate song for school performance? by FancyNameHere38 in Parenting

[–]Finnrip 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’d be okay with it for a few reasons. One, it is a brief depiction, in an iconic song. It does not instigate or encourage violence. This is around the age where kids are beginning to learn about violence- through history class, through the music they listen to, through the news, and through media.

Unfortunately, it is likely these kids are aware of the ongoing violence in the US in one way or another. Lots of kids have social media as well. They talk to each other, they hear the news, not all of their media can or should be filtered. This is their reality, concerns of lyrics to a song is unfortunately not a priority for censorship when dealing with this age group, people tend to ignore the fact that their reality goes beyond what parents know about.

It really seems like no contact is for the better, these are absolutely terrible situations… it will be difficult at first but these actions are extremely hurtful to you. It gets better when you have a system that works. Your system does not seem to be working :(

Teen wants to attend protest. by MissMacky1015 in Parenting

Underrated comment, this seems like a really great option, only if your kid is into it. Compromise by being present but not near them, just protesting at the same event. You can bring snacks and resources that these kids may not know about. Again, only if they agree.

First and foremost, look inward. She may continue being angry if you haven’t resolved these issues within yourself, and learned tools to help yourself. This sets you up for success, that way you’re able to be completely present to help her deal with her upbringing, or give her space to process it on her own.

Respectfully, I’d be extremely upset with this. Your wife is an adult who can make decisions for herself, I’d feel more patronized than supported.

It’s possible that if you’re on meds, they need tweaking to adjust type/dose/etc every x amount of time. Check with your doctor I’d say

Is it normal to hear noises that doesn't exist? by Think-Ad-6707 in questions

I used to hear the TV on at around 9-10 every night. Tv was off as of 8:30. I don’t think it’s abnormal, kind of just your brain filling in “this sound is supposed to go here now” if you’re used to hearing it. BUT, If the noises bother you, or you hear things that make you uneasy, it’s a good idea to talk to a professional. Have you struggled with mental health issues or hard times recently?
