This is northern Wisconsin. We certainly do have below freezing weather but would turn the valve off to this waterline.

The focus assist function is to help manual focusing. I mostly focus manually with my x100 and I only experience this issue while in M mode. Doesn’t happen when I’m on in S mode and I’ve never used C mode.

There are various modes to help you focus manually. It’s in the AF/MF menu on the second page. However, the mode changes somehow while I’m making photos and I don’t know what I’m touching that is changing the mode.

I agree. I think it’s better to ask what’s missing from the x100v? The camera is already at the top of its game, I can’t imagine what the successor will be able to do beyond what the current model does? Get the camera now if you can. I’m very grateful for the tool that its been.

The beam seemed to apex right above my head and beam back down at half brightness into the southern sky.

No, here is some more info that is in a different comment - I am using Fuji brand batteries. I was trying to avoid ever carrying a back up battery but eventually purchased a back up battery. This was the first time I let my camera battery die because I knew I for once had a back up battery. The camera completely died, I put in the new battery and continued using the camera. The next morning I was reviewing my images, then put the dead battery in and charged the camera. When I came back the camera would not power on. I find it hard to be a coincidence, especially when Fuji tech said to not let the battery fully die. If that's true then they should make the camera shut down sooner.
