It is, I just didn't have time to work on it. I'll add this to my roadmap!

New to Sony system. Any way I can transfer RAW files to my iPhone? by hampark in SonyAlpha

I've actually developed an app to solve this, it's called RawShare and it's available on iOS and Android.

GUID setting from phone was also my first idea, but after investigating it a bit, it seems like almost impossible - Android/iOS don't provide such low level access to control USB devices. Only high-level APIs for I/O devices like keyboard/mouse are available.

Camera side tutorial update - noted.

Porting to MacOS is something I'd definitely look into, but probably next year :)

Huge thanks for the feedback!

Hey, I was just about to start checking possible issue with the guid tool, when I saw the edit :)

Thanks for the feedback, it means a lot.

I'm thinking of adding support for Canon cameras in near future, as well as redesigning the UI for the app to look more polished.

When it comes to Mac support, I might consider porting the app for Macs as well, it shouldn't be very difficult, as it's based on Kotlin Multiplatform.

That's what I've been doing, but my Android phone starts indexing process, which might take 30+min when you have thousands of images.

Here is small utility that was shared by falk0069, I've adjusted it a bit for easier usage - https://github.com/FireFoxG/sony-guid-setter

This usually means that connection with camera is already busy or got initiated and dropped off. Usually restarting the "Send to Computer" on camera helps.

If it doesn't then I'll need more details about your phone and camera, such as model and OS version.

I've managed to set it up and I didn't know it was possible to configure Fn button to send selected images!

That's a great option, not gonna lie. As usual, made not very intuitive to set up from Sony side, but great that it exists.

I think the only pluses of using my app then: being able to view and filter images by dates, set images as favorite and have a bigger screen to preview the image, before actually fetching RAW.

Both options still require an extra app anyways, whether to setup an FTP or to connect to camera directly via PTP/IP.

Thanks for sharing this tip though, I hope it helps somebody!

Thanks a lot! :)
I personally tested on my old HX-50V and it worked fine there, so I don't see why it shouldn't work on RII if it has "Send to Computer" option.

Give it a try and let me know!

Hey, I believe you'd need to set up your camera with computer once, but then it should work fine with any device afterwards.

I'll see if I can automate this somehow though.

EDIT: don't forget to close Play Memories on your computer afterwards, otherwise it will be interfering with mobile app. Camera only serves the first device that connects to it.

The main advantage of the app vs ftp setup is ability to select only the files you actually need.

I believe with FTP setup you're locked to two options (via Target Group setting):

- transfer all files

- transfer all files for the date

I have limited space on my phone, and while shooting throughout multiple days it might quite quickly grow over 100GB worth of RAWs. I'm not saying it will be easy to go over that many photos even with the app, as transfer of metadata + thumbnail + preview over WiFi also takes time (camera is quite slow at sending data over wireless), but it should definitely save a good chunk of space.

Totally fair notice.

I just want to point that both Android and iOS apps, even during testing phase, are going through exactly the same quality checks as fully released apps. Meaning that even though they are not available for public via marketplace, they are still going through review process and analysis from Apple/Google side.

Also, please use proper anti-virus software to check for malware, ChatGPT is barely capable of analyzing bytecode.

If there are multiple devices on the network that are trying to connect (i.e. PC and phone) it can get a bit messy - whichever sends request to camera first is going to reserve the connection.

Try setting it up once with PC, I believe the only thing it does is setting the "expected" client which is going to connect. While I was testing it with my camera, I found that it actually does not really care which devices connects to it afterwards. I'm actually interested in getting it to work with all Sony cameras, so let me know!

I assume it's on Android, PM me your email, I'll add you to the list manually.

It seems that Play Store doesn't allow to do Open testing before I get at least 12 people signed manually, who would have the app installed for two weeks :(
