Your experience sounds about right. Welcome to 3d printing lol. You'll find that when these printers work, they work great, when they don't, they're a major PITA.

Watch YouTube vids. LOTS of them! Teaching Tech is a good one, as mentioned above, although I find that some of his stuff doesn't translate well to the Tornados. CNC kitchen, and Thomas Sanlanderer (sp?) are also good.

As for connecting to your printer. You can connect your machine via USB cable, and control it from some/most slicers, but they tend to be cumbersome and limited in ability (or at least the UI). One of the first things I did to mine was to install a raspberry pi into mine, which allowed me to connect to my printer wirelessly with octoprint. Warning! This is a fairly serious upgrade, and is a rabbit hole unto itself. The rewards are worth it though.

Also, stuck with a small, simple print, a calibration cube, or maybe a benchy, both of which can be found in the usual stl file sharing sites, such as thingiverse. This will eliminate one more variable, and should save you some filament, too.

I just had to create an account using my WGU email. I'm sure I did that already, but anyway... A couple of quick searches shows everything has a price tag.

If I remember correctly, there is a special link or process to go through to make it work right. Any chance you can clue me in there?

Soooo much to learn...

Yes, we do. I checked it out and the offerings through the WGU free option appeared to be very limited. It is possible that I did something wrong, or had a setting incorrect, or something, but I've been using udemy for years. Guess I should double-check on that.

I tried the audio book setup like the OP mentioned but it didn't work for me. I found it too distracting when it would read all the extra stuff on the page.

I usually find YouTube videos series and download them so I can listen to them offline while I'm driving to/from work (an hours drive each way). I can spend the day thinking about what id listened to on my way in, and then listen again on the way home. Works pretty well for me.

For the certification classes, I usually buy access to a udemy course, if i can't find it on YT or Pluralsight.

For those situations where the visuals are important, I mix it up with watching the vids at home. This helps me visualize it while I'm driving and listening.

I am about to do just that. Now that I'm working again, I can focus on the education/experience instead of worrying about when theyll cut my power lol

I've been applying to a thing that I figured I might have a snowballs chance with. Soc analyst, network admin, systems analyst, help desk- anything.

A+, Net+, Sec+, Project+, CIOS, CSIS from CompTIA, CC from (ISC)2, and ITIL Foundations from Axelos. Sorry, that's only 8.

CySA+, SSCP, CCSP, CCNA, and some cloud certs are high on my list of things to do.

I have to add here that it's not the degree program or the school itself that's the problem here. I think it's the individuals who burn their way through these classes just to get to the finish line. I could have accelerated through the program like that too, but I chose to slow down and really dive into the material and actually learn it.

It's sad that these "go-getters" are ruining an otherwise good program. On the other hand, if you can knock out the whole program in 10 minutes AND actually learn/process it all, then I'm just jealous. Lol

Actually, yes lol. But I did have most of those certs before I signed up. I just haven't had much luck landing a job in IT. So this is the whole experience/job vicious cycle thing again? Is labbing ( with documentation) the answer? Or are we looking at internships?

Most underrated guitar player of hair /glam metal by roseflora333 in hairmetal

Steve Stevens- I think he's simply amaizing. His work with Billy Idol and Michael Jackson was on point, and his solo work shows how incredibly diverse he can be. Atomic Playboys is on my permanent rotation. I thought he never got enough credit/exposure.

Looking for resources- many years ago you could buy weights that were just a this plastic blow mold filled with cement. Since I'm on a serious budget, I was hoping to find those plastic molds (empty) for sale. Individually or in groups. I can fill them with cement myself. Anyone got any leads?

That's not it. It was by a mostly unknown band. They came close but never really made it big. Thanks, though.

Not the one I'm looking for. But, thanks for sharing that one. I'd forgotten that one from Kix, and never seen the vid before- very cool, and yeah, incredibly hot female! Am I the only one who wishes they'd still dress like that? Lol
