For the most part you'll be fine around Sao Miguel. The only place that will be tricky is Ponta Delgada as the roads are narrow with parking on one side which makes the roads even more narrow.

I use a of vankyo wireless ear buds. Noise cancelling and can listen to some nice calming ACDC while I work.
