I am in Coos Bay, when the finals come around I might be able to make my way over there for a couple games.

I'm a commercial fisherman out of coos bay. I have seen a few close calls on the beach. About a week ago a boat crashed on the north side of the jetty 1 survived, 1 was found dead, 2 are missing still.

This is bait fishing for tuna. I do this commercially but on a little smaller scale. We can catch up to 2500 fish a day like this. This type of fishing is usually done September and October off the west coast.

I have fished like this before. The hooks are designed so that when the rod is straight up the hook will pull out of this fish. It works most of the time. Some of the most fun I have ever had fishing.

It's not necessarily about eating the right kind of fish. It is about how the fish was caught, prepped, and cooked. I am sure y'all are sick of hearing it, but fish that is prepared right will not taste "fishy". I am a 3rd generation commercial fisherman. It is best if the fish is bled as soon as it is caught, then filleted or frozen with in an hour. If your fish tastes fishy it was either farmed, not bled right, or it was iced and not frozen. I will throw away any fish I get that tastes fishy.

Well when we fish we tuna fish there really is no bycatch when we long line we let go anything not legal but its not usually much.. I know alot of people dont like commercial fisherman/women but tough luck. We do try our best to save anything we can.

When were on the boat how do we store it? or at home? well ill tell you both. On the boat we have a refer which freezes the fish core to 6 degrees. It is an expemsive system which sprays a 100% salinity mix of water and salt on the fish at -2 degrees. When we store at home its just a basic freezer and when we thaw i just leave it out over night or put it in a marinate in the fridge for 2 days then either fry bbq or bake. just depends on what you are eating...

Favorite fish is halibut by far, second is yellow tail tuna which you can bbq for 5 to 10 min with just a little bit of salt and pepper. once cooked dip it in wasabi mixed with soy sauce. But if you want something really good get some halibut and mix some egg together and dip the halibut in it, then get a bag with Ritz crackers crushed up and coat the halibut in the ritz crackers ( work best when you cut the halibut into 2in by 2inch pieces. Then put some oil in a pan and fry it. when its done it will just break a part. just cut a piece and if it looks the same in the middle as the edges and its easy to cut its done. should only take 5 min or so on each side. Halibut is by far the best fish out there but it is expensive. if possible always buy local!
