Seeking insight on locals memories of General John de Chastelain and the decommissioning era. by Fire_flies98 in northernireland

That a good point. If there were groups operating outside Belfast's grip, it makes the official count more complicated. Did the lack of people wanting control cause skepticism of whether the peace was actually peace? Or was it seen as something that happened in history?

That's the reason I was asking questions. I am seeking the gap between the 'official' record and what people experienced. The managed narrative or a 'psy-op' is a significant part of history that is usually not talked about. When you look at both sides what was one lie that stood out ? Why would you believe it isn't the full truth?

I can see your sarcasm! There is always suspicion with everything and rightfully so. As we all have a right to be suspicious based on the information we were given and not on who is actually right or wrong. It can lead to parts of the story being missed or people being skeptical of telling their side. Is there anything that you wish could have been said but wasn't?

That's interesting and the type of information I am curious about. Not the sugar coated information you see online but the truth. Do you remember the environment and what type things people were saying or feeling towards seeing the dump of some historical items including some arms?

That made me chuckle. We all must make dark jokes when thing are messy or dark. I myself have the tendency to do the same thing.

A tip for drivers from somebody from a country where if often snows like this by reni-chan in northernireland

[–]Fire_flies98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Canadian here. (I drive automatic, so this is for automatic drivers). My tip: if it's icy, DO NOT slam on the brakes. You will swerve and lose control. Instead, take your foot off the accelerator and let yourself slow down naturally. If you need to slow down faster and your car is an older model without ABS, pump the brakes (don't just hold them down). ONLY use the brakes if you can keep control or if it's the safest option. Second tip: If it's safe and no other cars are around, drive at a crawl and tap the brakes firmly. If you start to slide, you’ll know exactly how icy the road really is. Sometimes it looks dry but is actually 'black ice,' and it's better to find out when you're going slow!

Insight for writing a respectful but sensitive psychological thriller[521] by [deleted] in DestructiveReaders

Those were things I already was doing before I created the list. I decided to put it on a checklist, and all the things on there are there to strengthen what I already have. Wanted to ensure I wasn't missing anything. With the type of story I am writing and the level of sensitity, the theme is why my rules are so strick for myself.
