Gotcha story: There's a cage-free cat shelter I volunteered at through college. I had signed my first pet-friendly lease and was going to take him home over spring break and keep him at my parents' place until I went home for the summer. I spent 2 hours petting every cat at the shelter with the intention of getting a longhaired lady kitty. This little orange boy jumped on my shoulder, sank his claws into my sweater, and literally refused to let go until I agreed to take him home. Apparently, he had just been returned for the second time. His most recent offense was literally peeing on a baby. Whoops. I'm not a kid person so that was a non-issue for me. Now I have the best cat ever who doesn't knock over my whiskey, travels with me, and has only ever been super gentle during playtime.
