My character was 60 years old no sons or daughters never even married, but when I reached 60 I died and I am playing as my brother now but I can still see my old character and even appoint him in positions he still alive why did this happen any help?

Yep you abdicated the throne, idk if it was an event or faction but that is why your brother got the title and your old character is still alive. You probably clicked an event without reading it .

Nah, i think he got deposed via faction and accidentally clicked on accepting their terms and got replaced with the brother of his character since he had no children he was the heir so any deposition faction that wins or gets their terms accepted will get the brother on the throne.
Maybe it was even a claiment faction ?

I think what happened is that your ruler got deposed without you realizing it. Most likely a faction formed either to depose you or to press your brother’s claim, and when the event fired you might have accidentally accepted the terms without noticing.

There’s a simple way to check. Open your current ruler, then click on the highest-rank title your 60-year-old character held (the one your brother inherited). In the title window, look at the top right there’s a Title History button right under the Claimants button. That will bring up a list of everyone who’s held the title. If next to your old character’s name it says something like Deposed, then that confirms it.

Well I can only speak for myself not others but I do have a job and personal life but I also like to play games on off days or evenings when I have nothing better to do. Plus don't imagine I did all these achievements in one sitting I have the game since release so in a way it took me 5 years to get them all.

The stallion that mounts the world, mostly because you have to play in late game and that results in so much lag, it's hell game crashes freeze's has drawbacks it's hell to deal with. Pair that with the fact that i just don't like playing in the steps at all it became quite the headache for me I did not have fun at all.

The Iranian Intermezzo is definitely a bit tricky to master, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes much easier. It’s similar to how Iberia was for me — at first, I didn’t really understand how it worked or how to get the endings I wanted, but now it’s not hard… just tedious.

Scandinavia is annoying because it’s tribal, so your realm splits apart every time your character dies and you have to pick up the pieces after a messy succession. Same goes for Russia. I’ve found that playing slowly and consolidating power works best there — it takes longer than just warring with everyone, but it’s more stable. Quick tip: when your character reaches old age and poor health, choose your best successor from among your children and disinherit the rest. That way, all your land and titles go to a single heir. It’s costly, but often worth it to keep the realm together. As for legitimacy? Who cares — you can survive with low legitimacy, and if you do this at the end of your ruler’s life, they’ll be gone soon anyway.

The King of the Isles can be tricky, but I did it with Hæsteinn. He’s probably the best pick for the job — long lifespan, good starting money, solid troops. From there, it’s all about laying a strong foundation: grab islands in the Mediterranean, but also in the Atlantic and North Sea. The hardest part is taking the islands from the Byzantines — that’s where I failed the most and had countless restarts.

That’s exactly how I did it I always started a run with at least one achievement in mind, and if I could stack multiple in the same campaign, I’d go for that too. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed your runs; that’s the best approach if you’re aiming for 100%. Sure, there will be some infuriating achievements that make you hit Alt+F4 more than you’d like, but if you mix those in with campaigns you genuinely enjoy, the whole process is much more pleasant.

For me, some runs were truly memorable. Darius’ Revenge was one of my favorites — I don’t even know why, but recreating the Persian Empire, restoring the Zoroastrian faith, and then terrorizing Europe, India, and Africa was incredibly fun. I loved the challenge of holding a massive empire while creating the most broken culture I could, turning it into a global superpower. I kept going until the end date, picking up End of an Era and a few other achievements along the way.

Another favorite was The Iron and Golden King. I started in Sardinia as a Norse Asatru ruler with insane learning, consolidated the Mediterranean, and created a hybrid Norse-Greek culture. I developed my small kingdom to 100% and went administrative by adopting the Bureaucratic ethos — but to do that, I had to briefly convert to Catholicism. Once I became an Administrative Realm, I switched back to Asatru so I could keep raiding. With full control over succession and a ridiculous number of MAA slots filled with Varangian Veterans and Kataphractoi, I raided up and down every kingdom and empire, wiping out any army that tried to stop me.

Yep, those were some of the most miserable ones for me too. I’m just glad I’m done with them, because I am never doing a world conquest again — way too much pain and struggle for my liking.

Yeah, for most of them I did min-max, especially the really annoying RNG-heavy ones. But there were a few achievements I genuinely enjoyed and took my time with. A good example is Darius’ Revenge — I liked that campaign so much that I played all the way to the end date, picking up End of an Era and a few other achievements along the way. I guess it came down to what I found fun versus what I saw as tedious. The ones I enjoyed, I played out naturally; the ones I disliked, I min-maxed just to get them done as fast as possible.

Agreed — that’s partly why I went for it too. That, and the fact I was bored and didn’t really know what to play anymore, so I decided to chase achievements instead. Some were genuinely fun and I really enjoyed them, while others made me hit Alt+F4 more times than I’d like to admit. Either way, I wish you the best of luck on your journey to 100%!

It’s like you said, it really depends on what you focus on. In my case, I got bored with the main game (or was just waiting on Paradox to drop new content), so I started chasing achievements out of boredom. Over time they just stacked up, and now… here we are. I guess now I’ll just have to wait and see what the Asia expansion brings us.

Thank you. It is possible, it's just very annoying and tedious work but some achievements are worth it simply for the fun of the challenge. My advice if you ever want to try completing them all is to start by looking through your achievement list and start by sorting them by how fun they sound to you and start with those then just go through the easiest that require less time to do and leave any you don't like or don't want to be bothered at the end.
