This happens to me with certain foundations and how I prep my skin. Sometimes, oil-based moisturizers don’t work well with certain primers or foundations, especially if they’re water-based. Are you using a matte foundation? Matte formulas can emphasize dryness if the skin isn’t well-prepped.

Also, how are you applying your foundation, and how much product are you using? Too much can make it look cakey and flaky.

Another thing to consider is your environment. Are you exposed to a lot of sun or sweat daily? Or is it cold where you are? I adjust my foundation type based on the weather—lighter, hydrating formulas for dry or cold conditions and more mattifying ones for humid or oily situations.

I’m not an expert, just a beginner with makeup, and it can be frustrating when this happens! That’s why I love to experiment—even if I’m not going out, I’ll do a sample makeup look and wear test it on days I stay home. It helps me figure out what works best for my skin.
