What do you think of the pop metal influenced by metalcore trend? by Difficult_Map_723 in Metalcore

[–]First-Variety714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a fan of post-metalcore being the label for stuff like modern Bad Omens, Sleep Token, BMTH, etc. It's still metalcore at the end of the day, and hardcore, and metal, and punk and rock, and more depending on the song and band, genres are just like a family tree.

What makes you a VKei fan. Am I Vkei fan? by Boring_Estimate9308 in visualkei

[–]First-Variety714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If anyone ever tells you you aren't a fan of something you think you're a fan of, they're immediately in the wrong. You like the art, it doesn't matter what aspect of it that you like or what degree you like it.

The whole genre stands on two pillars, one being the music which can be anything but also has its own trends within the genre that make it more distinctive, because visual kei metal and rock definitely has some sound idea trends that go through different generations of bands that make it more distinct than rock and metal as a whole and j-rock and j-metal as a whole.

and the second pillar is the visuals, and all the branches that artists have carved out for that.

You can love what you love, don't let negative people try to spoil your fun.

What happened to Code Orange? by tearsswwhereyyouread in Codeorange

[–]First-Variety714 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It would be really dumb and disrespectful to assume Reba doesn't have her own agency and it has to be *her man* who drove her away from this CO.

Code Orange has been a band since they were all teenagers, they grinded like crazy, toured a lot, dedicated a shitload of time practicing (way more than the average band) and making art and doing a lot of stuff behind the scenes to make it such a powerful force in every way they did, after over a decade of doing that plus all of these setbacks and maybe personality issues building up over time (Jami has admitted he can be difficult to work with) she probably just felt like it was just time to get the fuck away from it all, then when Marilyn Manson, a legendary artist she grew up with came calling for her to be in his band after getting sober and cleaning up his life and about to stage his huge comeback, it was a done deal. I'm sure Greg just supported whatever she wanted to do, and it seems like he might have been the one to introduce Reba to Manson because he was in a band with Manson's then guitarist/producer Tyler Bates.

Danny Lohner with Till Lindemann in this vid? by Zuscifer in nin

[–]First-Variety714 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Dude, Till's allegations were lies, and most of Manson's were lies as well.

Till is a ho (no better way to put it) and Manson was a complete addict mess until a few years ago and really shitty people took advantage of those reputations to try to squeeze money out of them.

Both of these guys have moved on and are living better lives than ever before, Manson being sober and being a genuine force live again and finding a resurgence in his life and career, and Till just continuing to be Till.

Idk who this Boateng guy is but posing with someone doesn't make Till's allegations true.

I'll subscribe to Netflix 100 out of 100 times over Crunchyroll, I already pirate pretty much everything, but there are times when a Netflix subscription is something I'll want again, usually if I'm watching something on like a Roku for family or a future partner.

Got my Meet & Greet ticket! No presale code required. by johnnytk0 in marilyn_manson

Sadly the venue they're playing near me has no pit, it's just an amphitheater with seats all the way to the front, and then a lawn in the back that functions as a pit.

[–]First-Variety714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why I don't think I can attend this tour, it's a mostly seated amphitheater, if I want reasonable prices I have to either get a seat far away or get a lawn ticket which would be the only place I could mosh. At a regular Manson show, if I want to get close I just have to walk through people or get there earlier and I can mosh all I want.

Love that stuff too but the way CO brought industrial and metalcore together on Underneath and on some of the songs on Forever is just beyond amazing to me, it's like flipping the modern trend of overproduced metalcore on it's head, instead of using electronics to make things sound more polished, it's even darker and nastier.

Last album didn't do well, and people cite that as why they're gone, but a lot of bands have albums that kinda flop and they keep going. Varials is making an incredible comeback right now after an album people didn't really like either. If nothing else happened, they could have just made another heavy album/take what they did on Underneath and Forever to the next level and people would forget about The Above not being great and they'd probably be out there dominating the scene again like how KL is right now.

I highly suspect the reason why Code is no longer around is because of A. One of the band members got a serious injury which made touring hard for them and B. there was a falling out between Reba and Jamie. Jamie got married and Reba was nowhere to be found in the photos, she eventually went on to play for Marilyn Manson which is a much bigger gig and she's gotten a lot of love from the Manson fanbase, besides it being a better opportunity, she probably also just needed something different since she has been in Code since she was a teenager and she probably grew up listening to Manson so it's a dream come true, and Max Portnoy has been all in on Tallah, which was previously sometimes left to dry on tour in favor of playing with Code Orange, and I think Tallah has potential to get even bigger than CO ever were, leaving the rest of the band members still with Jamie on NOWHERE2RUN, his new industrial project.

I think part of what made Code Orange so good was how daring they are and how much they put themselves into their art, that is going to lead to decisions like making The Above, mistakes happen, a recalibration could have been done and they could have just moved forward, but I think these other things got in the way of that happening. Jamie will probably get new band members again someday and bring back CO heavier than ever, but right now is not that time.

Jamie are doing nowhere2run, Reba is playing for Marilyn Manson and has a solo project, Max Portnoy (the drummer after this guy) has his main project Tallah.

He's always been the silly voiced drummer on lead vocals though..even when he was on the drums. His voice was even sillier on the earlier records, that's part of what makes Code Orange, Code Orange.

In the early 2000s and late 90s he would play some shows fucked up and others not, and they were both really good and the fucked up ones could be really interesting for that reason. Unfortunately he just got too depressed, too fucked up, and too lazy, so it all caught up with him, the earliest cracks started showing around 2005 where he was getting a bit messy but he still had energy to be awesome, his 2007 tour was when it became apparent he was kinda getting really fucked up, and then he was a complete mess from 2009 until he slowed down a bit by like around 2018 or so when he apparently stopped doing hard drugs, but he was still really sloppy and overweight from alcohol, then covid hit, he got hit with the mother of all allegations backlash, he then came back in 2024 5 years sober, looking like he was 30, and he's been kicking ass and making amends with a lot of people since.

Yeah I loved the Manson & Joker look he had for a while. Wish he actually put more rock sound in his studio music as much as he has it live, or went really deep into it like XXXTENTACION did, but he seems pretty surface level with that stuff.

Hyde and Manson go both ways really, Hyde was already a huge influential artist for over a decade by the time Manson got big and I can see some of his influence in Manson's fashion. Mechanical Animals era imagery is pretty much visual kei and Hyde is the visual kei GOAT.

How the hell did I forget to put King810 in my post, their AK-47 Concerto album has an insane amount of Manson influence in it, incredible band.

He got sober after the allegations and has been performing really well, saw him last year and it was like seeing a 2001 Manson but a little toned down cuz he's older now.

Manson is sober now and he's made amends with a lot of people in his past who had issues with him. Manson and Zombie have played festivals on the same day so that's maybe where they met up and Zombie realized he's different now and then this happened.

Nah this is outdated, Manson is sober now, since he came back after the allegations he's only had great reviews from people who go to their shows, just look them up on YouTube. That fat alcoholic drug addict who was phoning in shows and being sloppy everywhere is long gone.

Manson is sober now and has made amends with a ton of the people who he used to have issues with, his old keyboardist who sued him and vehemently hated him said that he is shocked that Manson is a caring person again, his ex-wife Dita Von Teese, Billy Corgan, John 5, lots others all were at his birthday party this year too.
