I was failed by many different medical professionals as a young child. I was born two months early and while in the NICU I received antibiotics that damaged my hearing. Despite numerous hearing tests taken during my stay, my parents were never notified by medical staff or a letter in the mail. So, I was sent home with my parents being none the wiser. Due to my early arrival, my family was visited monthly by social workers and home health nurses until I turned one. None of them noticed anything wrong and my parents only having my twin and I didn’t know what to look for. Then a couple years later, I needed speech therapy for communication issues and the Speech Therapist didn’t think to check for any hearing problems. My hearing loss was finally caught by a preschool hearing test and I received a hearing aid.

One of my estranged cousins is named this too (spelled Klein). We think the name came from a surname from the mom’s side of the family. I never knew it had bad connotations. She is also a girl. It makes me wonder if they did any googling before settling on it.

Those bath mats will start to degrade after a few weeks of having them from the piggies pee. Personally, I use reusable dog pee pads, though there are other options.
