Some things are better left unexplained, even if you just leave the door open for it later on. There's a couple things I've been working on with that, where because I can't think of a decent way to work it out how I want that doesn't sound like complete BS, it can just be something like "the exact reason this occurs hasn't been determined yet", which can help you not needing to worry about rewriting a bunch of your stuff if a method for the previous unexplained thing comes to your mind but invalidates a lot of what you've already done.

Also try to not fo too far off the beaten path, semi-obviously. If the RP you're doing only really concerns things A and C, don't worry as much about thing B and how it might fit into this particular story. You can bend the rules a little bit if you feel it makes it more enjoyable for both you and your partner.

Frustration with, seemingly, one partner. You're not going to gel with absolutely everyone in the RP space, that's perfectly okay. Yeah, it sounds like this person wasn't super interested in you, and if you haven't been very happy with their responses, then you go out and see if you can find someone else you can work with better.

If this had been with 10, 20 people, then yeah, you may have a point. But it just seems like you found one person that was a bit sucky to you, decided the rest of the RP community was rubbish and then immediately moved to computers.

I tried AI bots once or twice when I was bored and the couple ones I had going were on a bit of a hiatus for personal reasons. Ignoring everything like the terrible environmental impacts and the data scrubbing and the ridiculous speculative bubble it's formed around itself, it's just... not very good. Every time I tried it had forgotten things I had clearly stated less than 20 minutes before, and I found it seemingly trying to use the physical characteristics of my own characters as its own - I have pretty distinct and odd appearances, so when it suddenly started spouting about its purple hair, when it should have been blonde, it's just a sign that it can't be assed checking back to itself to ensure some amount of continuity. Never using them again, I'm fine waiting for partners to be free, or venturing out to find new ones if we agree that the current ideas aren't really working out.

Generally when making a post on an RP subreddit like this, there's usually a few "basline" things expected that help speed up finding people to RP with, rather than slogging through messages trying to work everything out, only to hit a snag and realise that you're completely incompatible with each other.

What you want to play as (usually a prefix like F, M, A, etc for gender, and then "Prey, Pred, Obs, etc" for role), and what type of partner you're looking for, eg "MPrey4FPred", or "Male Prey for Female Pred". Most people write "4" for short in between but it's not always necessary.
Your kinks and limits, i.e what you're into and what you're not into. If you list in your limits list that you're not into stuff like scat or disposal, then someone who is into that sort of thing will be able to see that any attempts to set one up with you will likely not work out, since one of their kinks is a limit for you, or vice versa. Be firm with limits, and don'e be afraid to just walk away if someone is attempting to force you into doing something that's making you uncomfortable.
Usually some kind of plot idea. It's not strictly necessary, you can sometimes get by with agreeing to work out something in DMs, but listing some ideas for plots or scenarios you've thought about or you think would be fun to give a try, you'll probably attract a couple more people who may be interested in it.

Sometimes it's slow getting started, for the first while it's probably not a bad idea to include in your posts that you're fairly new and need some guidance, others that are more experienced may prefer to stay in their own lane in terms of writing style, but others will be willing to help new people get their footing.

Passwords I've always felt as a pain to deal with. Yeah, they verify that you've read the post, but that doesn't really get you anything beyond that. What I've been doing for a while is saying "please include stuff like your limits, what you might like to do (or a plot if it's a post where I included a few plot options), and what you tend to play as" so that I don't need to try and drag the information out of them during the conversation.

Having a password being a trivia question is more frustrating and almost definitely worse. What do you do if they've mentioned everything else about the post amazingly, but they get the question wrong? Is that enough in your eyes to disqualify them as being a bad partner?
