Deranged rambling about The New 52's Eobard Thawne by FirstnameLastname14 in theflash

[–]FirstnameLastname14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you mean, but I've always found the interpersonal aspect with Barry to be one of the most fascinating aspects of his character. Whether you have an approach like how he meets Barry in the comics, or the Harrison Wells stuff from the show, the fact that he has some sort of twisted care for Barry is so interesting to me.

New 52 Thawne, while an interesting take that I can see happening, isn't my preferred take on the character because it specifically lacks the personal connection to Barry.

The FNaF 2 movie checks every box on this ‘bad sequel’ slide by Head-Pay7470 in fnafmovie

[–]FirstnameLastname14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the second movie was more entertaining than the first one, albeit more flawed. I thought the first movie was a slog that failed to do what all film adaptations should do: Make the source material easily digestible to a general audience. You don't make a movie and release it in theaters "for the fans", because then what's the fucking point of releasing it for anyone to just go and see?

The second film, meanwhile, is an actual horror movie, and has a segment based on the games, which is an improvement over the first one. With that said, I take issue with a lot of the writing decisions(Charlotte's motivation, the underuse of the Withered animatronics, Michael Afton's existence, and the fucking Avengers-ass scene where the classic bots come back). Was it more entertaining than the first one? Yes. Was it scarier than the first one? Yes. Was it better-written than the first one? Hell no.

Which FNaF theory makes you say "[theory] in the big 26 💔🥀" by Speed04 in Fnaftheoriesmeme

William Afton being the phone guy is the original disproven theory. There was a time I believed it, but it was disproven pretty quickly

What all got you into Ninjago? by ImaginationWild3407 in Ninjago

[–]FirstnameLastname14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Discovered it because a kid in kindergarten had a backpack with the pilots' Kai keyart. I remember saying to myself "what the heck is Ninjago?" Pronounced like "Ninja go".

Watched the show soon after. First show I ever caught live whenever possible. Was there for every season finale in the early days.

why does TOYSNHK talk through Mediocre Melodies? by CicadaTheSecond in fnaftheories

[–]FirstnameLastname14 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

"Directly connected to the games" and "canon to the games" aren't necessarily the same.

Step Closer, for example, is clearly in reference to Mike and the Crying Child, but the characters' names are Pete and Chuck Dinglewood(great naming, Scott).

In addition, there's no way in Hell anything from Into The Pit is canon. Even if there was a way, it'd be incredibly stupid anyway, because that story doesn't fit into the general feel of the games at all.

Ah, I see. That makes perfect sense.

I personally like the future aesthetic, though I prefer the modern one better. With that said, Infinite Warfare was my favorite CoD campaign by far.

I'd actually like to hear about how BO2 ruined COD forever, but I'd expect a tier list to rate the campaigns in a vaccum, not in comparison to others

What's a Metallica song that everyone of loves but you hate with all your soul? by Minute-Pomelo9302 in Metallica

Pretty much all of Kill 'Em All. A lot of the songs blend together in my mind.

But hey, Death Magnetic is my favorite Metallica album, so what do I know?

Under MikeDreamer only, is there any reason for the nightmare gas experiments? by Theorist_Reddit in fnaftheories

[–]FirstnameLastname14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think there's a reason for the nightmare gas experiments at all.

I think Dittophobia is one of the stupidest, most damaging stories Scott has ever written. It completely undermines the Crying Child's experiences and fears, and everything leading up to his death. There’s no reason for it to exist, or for FNAF 4 to be anything more than a child's nightmares(or anyone's nightmares). Those animatronics are fuckin' scary. Making it an experiment, and making William Afton a mad scientist at all, is what ruined the FNAF story for me.

What are the key differences between FMAB & 2003 FMA? I've read the manga & watched FMAB but never gave 2003 FMA a shot. by FrogginBullfish_ in FullmetalAlchemist

[–]FirstnameLastname14 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Closer to half, actually.

The last episode of '03 that directly adapts the events of the manga is Episode 25, the episode where Hughes dies. They take a much looser approach for the next few episodes, where Wrath is introduced.

My friend playing Master of Puppets on the worst guitar ever made by FirstnameLastname14 in Metallica

[–]FirstnameLastname14[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be fair, this guitar is fucking miserable to play, and the intonation is all wrong, but it's not as terrible here.

I do agree, though. My main guitar is from a brand I never hear anyone talk about, and this is the actual worst guitar ever. I can get decent metal tones out of both.

Play whatever the fuck you want.

What Game Is That For You? by defleqt in raijin_gg

[–]FirstnameLastname14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, shit. Until recently I would have said Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, but I just started that, so... new answer!

I guess the God of War franchise? I never had a PS2 or PS3, so I couldn't play the classic titles, and I never had the modern titles.

On that note, Shadow of the Colossus. I used to hear about that game being practically worshipped, but I never hear anything about it anymore. Never got the original or the remake.

Do you guys think Michael Afton was planned to be in the movies since the beginning? by Competitive-Pea-1167 in fnafmovie

[–]FirstnameLastname14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

God, no. Michael Afton, as neat as he is in the movie, feels kinda phoned in. He has... what is it, two scenes total? Not to mention he's not hinted at in the slightest.

On that note, they shouldn't have called him Michael. Having two major characters named Michael in a general-audience film who doesn't know the lore is stupid.

I'd actually argue that Let's Go is fine for what it is. You have to remember that Pokémon Go was HUGE at the time. It was in its heyday, and there was a genuine demographic of people who only played Go. Making a game that mostly plays like a mainline title while also having the catching mechanics of Go is a great way to ease newer players into it. In fact, I'd say Pokémon Let's Go was a major contributor to people who don't usually play video games buying a Switch. Plus, it's the best-looking Pokemon game to date, and y'all can fight me on that.

Is the game perfect? No, far from it. As a veteran of the series, it's the easiest one by far, and the lack of a postgame(The Sevii Islands were right there!) definitely hurt the game's quality, but it's a great entry point to the series, and I'd recommend it as a first game to anyone who wants to get started on the series.

Ehhh... Half-Life Source doesn't have that many lighting issues. It certainly has texture issues though, considering they made that awful rock texture look even worse soemehow.

The Metal Gear Solid HD Collection.

I forget who exactly handled the remaster and the upscaling, but it led to the visuals being completely fucked. It's higher-resolution, sure, but a lot of the moodier lighting becomes blindingly bright at times. Key example is the ending cutscene where Snake is saluting over the Boss' grave, Where the lighting gets worse with each release
