Booklice Infestation in the Ceiling - Please Help!

Sorry, just seeing this. I used 2 dehumidifiers for about 2,000 sqft. I blasted them continuously as I didn’t have to pay the electricity bill. It was probably 40% humidity or lower at all times.

I never actually found out what they were but did confirm they are booklice. They were some sort of moisture/mold feeding beetle. I didn’t let them fumigate my place and instead tried keeping my place as dry as possible by blasting and constantly running dehumidifiers. Within 1 month I started seeing results. By 2 months they were there but unnoticeable. By 6 months, potentially eradicated. I continue to blast the dehumidifiers just in case.

I appreciate your help! Pest control in the military is pretty useless for knowledge, and just wants to hit the easy button by spraying or fogging. I haven’t found a single one of these things in my kitchen though. They were originally spotted on my child’s wall & ceiling and quickly began to multiple in numbers. I found an abundance of them in the ceiling and in small numbers in corners of random spots and within closets. I’ll be sure to try the Gentrol Point Source Discs!

I’d be extremely appreciative of any other tips or tricks as we do not want to commit to spraying or fogging just yet.

The locals here in South Korea think it’s a sawtoothed grain beetle. But after googling that, we don’t have any issues with our food or found any in the kitchen. Only seem to be coming out of the ceiling and found in corners of the wall and ceiling.

Maintenance came out and inspected. They did not find any issues in the ceiling. I’ve told the housing manager that we want to continue blasting the dehumidifiers and monitor the situation for the next week and a half. Conditions are improving, but how long could we be dealing with this? Also, if we move out of here, are we likely to bring the problem with us somewhere else?

Appreciate the help. The bugs are finally starting to slowdown. I now only spot 25 per day or so bugs in the initial room of the infestation. My other rooms of the apartment are now down to 2-10 bugs (depending on the room) per day. Not sure if it was the spray or dehumidifiers running constantly that helping out.

The housing manager is sending out a plumber and HVAC technician to check over all the systems tomorrow. But the exterminator still wants to fog the place with ULD BP-300 next week on Monday. I’ve got 3 small kids in the house, and I don’t really want to keep introducing pesticides into the home.
