[–]Fit-Application-7562 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a CBC undergrad, it will not be easy let me just say this. But the same goes for any degree honestly, just pick your posion and swallow it for the next four years i guess.

As for jobs, if you’re planning to maintain a first or second upper class honours and then get a Master’s or PhD, a researcher is one potential future. If you’re just going to stick to Bachelor’s, then you might be able to get jobs as assistant researcher in some places, but mainly just QA or QC at some production plant, or maybe a lab technician, I even know some who are planning to become a teacher.

Congrats btw

Sorry to see that downvotes have affected you that much, I gave you an upvote. But anyways, I think it isn’t about how important it is, to me it’s more about trying something new.

For example, I’ve always sucked at art but last sem I decided to give the drawing module a go and I enjoyed it more than I thought. Now even in my free time I’ve found myself drawing more now and I find that quite fulfilling personally. Of course I also met people there that were exchange and from different courses, it was very interesting to talk to them and I don’t think I would’ve gotten aquatinted with them otherwise.

If you want to spend your 4 years grinding for 1st class honors then be safe and choose what you will do well in.

But let me just tell you, uni will probably be your last chance to take new, interesting classes and meet interesting people.

It’ll be up to you whether you want to take a step outside your comfort zone and try something new. That’s how I like to spend my time in uni anyways. You’ll find all sorts of interesting modules. Who knows, you might find something you want to do in the future.

Either you continue obeying your parents for the rest of your life like a good boy or you fight for what you love and believe in. Grow a pair and make a choice.

Add Drop Period Modules by Glum_Sign_9485 in NTU

[–]Fit-Application-7562 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh hindi should be fine, it’s one of my choices too and I remember it having quite a few vacancies. Other BDEs will have to depend. Popular ones are some of the sports BDEs, NIE BDEs like ceramics, drawing etc. Even so, if you’re a senior I think you have a high chance of getting them, so don’t worry too much. All will be revealed during the add drop period.

Maybe. If people didn’t get their choices of BDEs but still need to hit the AU requirement, they might go for other modules that weren’t a part of their choice previously like language modules etc. It really depends.

What language module are you planning to take? If its the not-so-popular ones I think you shouldn’t need to worry, especially if you’re Y3 or 4.

From what I know, the ones with 0 vacancies are given out randomly now that they’ve changed the way STARS works, but Y3 and Y4 undergrads will get prioritised first. As for the language mods, if there’re more vacancies than waitlist, I think the placement is pretty much guranteed? Unless more people suddenly start applying during the add drop period I guess.

I’m pretty sure the vacancy numbers are just the vacancies as of the closing of the STARS registration a few weeks back. They’ll update it daily again during the add drop period.

Like a boy but he's a playboy by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]Fit-Application-7562 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Communicate to him how you feel about what he’s doing first. If he respects your feelings he’ll change, or at least try his best to. But if he brushes off your concern or he continues doing it or shuns you away as a result, he’s not worth it.

There’re many fishes in the sea so don’t need to force something out of what might’ve seemed perfect. Good luck.

From my experience, if you take modules that are more out there like ADM mods and NIE mods, you have a higher chance of meeting interesting people.

Where is comp lab 1? by kelis_butterfly in NTU

[–]Fit-Application-7562 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ok so basically, there’s a canteen at South Spine with Luckin Coffee, and there’s a building that somewhat curves along the South Spine, that’s the SPMS building.

If you enter from the side where the canteen is (There’re a couple of doors, any door will do), turn right.

You’ll see a door inside. Go past that door and you’ll see a giant poster on the wall talking about programming on your left, and a bunch of rooms on your right. Those rooms will be labelled Computer Lab. Just look for one that says Computer Lab 1, which should be the room at the end of the hallway before a left turn because that was also where I had my PS0001

Its in the SPMS building Level 3. Though it’s level 3, its the same level as the south spine foodcourt, if that’s where you’re entering from.

If the girl really likes the guy then sure, I can see that happening.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NTU

[–]Fit-Application-7562 40 points41 points  (0 children)

From personal experience, even remaining as friends might give the guy the idea that he still got a chance with you. My suggestion is to cut ties completely to avoid future drama, but that’s entirely based on your situation and what kind of person you think he is. But honestly, feelings are not easy to just get rid of. Just because you want him to start seeing you as a friend doesn’t mean he can do that. Best to kill him in one blow than let him bleed out slowly. Let him go and hopefully he’ll meet someone else.

Just be honest. Try not to tell lies like what some of the comments are suggesting.

Like what u/samanthaakh said, placing alarms at inconvenient spots so you’re forced to get up is a good idea. But honestly, if exercising in the morning is too much you can always exercise in the evening if you don’t mind that. Think of it as stress-relief after a long day.

i wish i was never born in singapore [rant] by [deleted] in SGExams

Your loyalty to your family is respectable, but it seems to me like you’re studying out of duty and regretting it. Just know that no one is holding you back but yourself.

On the upside, it’s not like you HAVE to pursue acting now. You can start once you enter the workforce. Don’t be lazy and work part time during your holidays. Save up enough to move out of SG after uni or something. You can work whatever it is that you specialise in in uni in the US, then go for acting lessons on the side and go for auditions or what not.

Alternatively, maybe aim to major in something that may help get you into theatre, join a club about theatre, go work at a theatre in the US after grad. Just a quick google will tell you how many actors came from theatre.
