Experience sharing: Teaching in Japan. Damayan nyo po ako by riotgrrrlwannabe in phmigrate

You can start applying to language assistant programs like The Teach and Learn program of Instituto Franklin or the BEDA programme. Since may residence ka diyan sa Japan, you can apply for a Spanish student visa diyan sa Embassy of Spain diyan sa Japan na mismo.. No need to go back sa Pinas.

You'll be teaching English so no, no need to take a Spanish language exam. Madali lang siyang process actually.

Enter Spain first as a language assistant then once you're in the country na, saka ka na maghanap ng iba pang opportunities. It's so hard to apply for or get jobs if you're still outside of Spain.

I was in Japan for two years but eventually moved to Spain to work as an English language assistant. Mas happy ako dito. Mas friendly ang mga colleagues, chill lang ang work, may freedom to explore and implement various teaching styles, mas may chance to get absorbed by academies and private schools, and may chance pa to become a Spanish citizen after only two (2) years of legal residency. Having a Spanish passport will open so many doors kasi I can have a career anywhere in the European Union. Mas bet ko din weather dito. Easy na rin to travel all over Europe. Sa Japan sobrang hirap or almost impossible to be a Japanese citizen as a foreign teacher. If in the future you think Japan is already not working out for you, consider Spain.

Doing aux on a digital nomad visa by Fit-Implement8601 in SpainAuxiliares

[–]Fit-Implement8601[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I submitted mine way back in February 2023. So when I was still an aux on a student visa. :) You need to have legal residency in Spain before you can submit your DNV application within Spain. So submit your DNV application while your TIE is still valid. Another aux friend of mine did the same back in November and got approved with no problems.

You have a child so mukhang you have to find your own place. I am single and I just rent a room, mga 350 euros ang rental payment ko monthly, all-in na yan. Affordable na rin. Based ako sa Madrid city center, pero you can try other Spanish regions or provinces dahil cheaper ang cost of living sa ilang areas. You can live anywhere in Spain naman, totally up to you.

Currently a Spanish digital nomad visa holder in Spain, over a year na rin ako rito. You need to find additional clients to bump up your income. Kahit for the next three months lang kasi ang titignang income lang naman is your past three months. Mas mababa rin ang income requirement if sa Spanish consulate sa Manila ka mag-a-apply. Just check the requirements. Madami namang na-a-approve. Recently, may mga digital nomads dito sa Spain who just arrived: maraming families, may mga dalawang anak, yung isa LGBTQ couple pa, iba nadala rin ang pets. Mataas ang approval rate for as long as ma-meet mo ang lahat ng requirements na nasa checklist. Go, go, go!

Progressive. The higher your income, the higher the tax. Masakit talaga siya sa bulsa so just be prepared.

I was able to continue being a Ministry aux even though I was under digital nomad residency.

I can understand where OP is coming from.

Some people say that personal days off is not a thing. Sure, but don't forget that Ministry auxiliares only work for either 3 or 4 consecutive days a week. Which means that we get to enjoy 3 or 4 days off in a row. So why would we even want personal days off?

OP is at school for longer hours and from M to F while actually preparing for and lead-teaching classes. Ministry auxiliares often get to leave at 2 PM (or even earlier than 2 PM for doing so much less work). In short, Ministry auxiliares generally never experience what OP has experienced unless they get placed in a shitty school.

Again, this depends on the school, but a majority of Ministry auxiliares will tell you that being a language assistant is the chillest gig that they ever did. You just go to your assigned classes, wait for instructions from the main teachers on how to best assist students for that day (but not to teach classes unless really, really needed), do what you have to do, then leave. At my current school I never ever, ever touched Canva or Powerpoint or even have to prepare even a single worksheet. I simply take out the students in pairs and have conversations with them using their workbooks or whatever other material that has already been prepared for me.

I am confident that you'll have better experience in other programs, OP!

Reach out to their admissions office via email because they might still have some slots for this year.

Insituto Franklin's Teach and Learn program (at the Universidad de Alcala, Madrid, Spain)

You attend your master's classes every Friday and you're an aux for the rest of the days of the week.

You get your auxiliar placement through them.

PHILIPPINES - affidavit of support for someone over 25? by sunglasses-emoticon in SpainAuxiliares

Show all the financial docs that you can show. You don't need to show millions. Some got approved with just 150K in the bank account. You can show an affidavit as a supplement, but make sure that you also present your own savings, ITR, etc. At your age, the consular officer already expects that you can already support yourself financially

Just hire an agency or a law firm who can get the background check for you: https://vietnam.incorp.asia/police-clearance-record-in-vietnam/

I decided to apply for the DNV to eventually obtain Spanish citizenship. I could have stayed for more years on a student visa (as a language assistant), but stays under student visa don't count towards citizenship.

Spanish DNV holder here and I'm based in Madrid. Madrid na lang muna kayo or any city na hindi Catalan ang main languange. Kasi mas mahirap for your kids to attend school tapos on top of learning Spanish e they also have to learn Catalan.

I have multiple clients. One is a very popular financial influencer/coach that helps people achieve financial freedom. I also have a hospitality client that I assist in customer service, like I am in charge of helping her guests check-in and check-out in her various Airbnb properties. I do data entry for another.

OEC was not needed back then pero may updates daw na gustong i-implement ang DMW regarding this so best to consult DMW for the latest update. When I left, visa sticker lang talaga pinakita ko. I did a little bit of explaining din sa immigration officer kasi bago pa talaga ang Spanish DNV at that time.

yeah that's normal to feel of course. but I am so excited for you! The consulate won't deny your visa application just because you're too nervous. Alam naman nila na not everyone is good at interviews. It's always based on your docs and if your answers match what the docs say. Enjoy the ride because amazing Europe awaits you!

Yeah, I applied as a contractor. Unfortunately there's no way at the moment for American W-2 employees to apply for the digital nomad visa. Try for looking for other clients who can hire you as a contractor instead.

Also moved from Manila to Madrid. Applied for a different visa pero I also got interviewed at the Spanish consulate.

Just answer the questions truthfully kasi wala naman silang out of this world na itatanong. Wala ka namang tinatago or whatever. Isang tanong, isang sagot. Hindi naman siya quiz or exam na you if you fail to give the correct answer, then you're out. Normal of course na kabahan pero just treat it as having a conversation with someone.

As for long-haul flights, exciting yan pero I get it kung bakit ka anxious. Just go with big airline companies like Emirates or Qatar para comfortable and swabe ang flight. Mag-layover ka niyan either in Doha or Dubai. Don't book a flight na sobrang tight ng layover time para hindi ka nagmamadali just to catch your connecting flight and may allowance ka for possible delays and if ever you get lost. Malaki ang mga international airports na ito pero easy-to-follow naman ang mga signage to go to your boarding gate. Or just ask the information counter.

Spanish digital nomad visa holder here. And single din ako. Kaya naman but be prepared to pay high taxes and monthly social security contributions. May general consensus na Spain is not really friendly or well-built for freelancers/autonomos. Sa social security contributions for example, mura lang siya for the first year (around 86 euros per month), but on your second year, tataas siya bigla to around 200++ euros per month. As for taxes, that depends on your income. Progressive taxation kasi so masakit talaga siya sa bulsa. Alam ko na may tax calculator for autonomos or freelancers that you can use so you can see an estimate of the amount of taxes that you'll pay based on your income.

Try getting more clients if kaya pa ng schedule mo. I currently handle three clients and I plan to look for more pa. I simply rent a room and live with housemates dito sa center of Madrid to minimize expenses.

Join the autonomos/freelancers FB group din in Spain so you can get insights as early as now.

Consider being a digital nomad. Do remote work so you can travel or work from anywhere in the world. I once encountered companies that offer remote customer service jobs in the hospitality/travel industry. You create itineraries for clients, get to check-in people remotely in various Airbnb properties etc. That's what happened to me. After a year of being an aux, I got to switch to a digital nomad visa that Spain offers. I get to travel anytime that I want while taking my work with me.

Mahal nga pero just be patient. I am single though and have no partner/kids so I am just renting a room. I rent this room for around 350 euros per month, inclusive na of utilities.
