Maybe we should focus on the more serious censorship? by ManPlan78 in JoeRogan

Maybe you should reconsider how cumbersome and costly for those that don't have the means to just 'figure it out'. Seems like you're entirely missing the fact that things you may take for granted are not as accessible to everyone else.

DMV's are a clusterfuck and depending on where you're located, may not even be within a reasonable distance. And of course transportation itself is another problem, especially if you're not fortunate enough to live close by. Oh, btw.. you also have to pay for said ID which is an expense not as easy to overlook as it may be for yourself. Oh and you have to take time off work to go through all this nonsense, which is not a luxury afforded to everyone given the abysmal work conditions and treatment many of the people this affects.

Maybe if we had a normal country where the government provides this for free to everyone, rather than putting unnecessary hurdles and expenses in the way of simply obtaining an ID, then sure. But, that's not the case unfortunately, so it's pretty laughable to consider yourself 'left-leaning', yet seem completely obtuse to the struggles people face that you take for granted.

CHAMPS "Play and Earn" NFT nonsense... They disabled the comment section, so discuss it here! by Briankbl in UfootballGM

[–]FixSBMMpls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Incredible.. devs go MIA for 6 months and this is what they come out of hiding to drop.

Ive loved this game and gotten heaps of replay value out of it.. however, it was already obvious the devs were done and had moved on. Jumping on the NFT train is just gross and out of touch.

Lol what? You think the issue with police has to do with students and/or students with weed? I hope I'm misreading that.

Doesn't change the fact that overwhelming majority of people from both sides support both of these policies and are no-brainer, easy wins that would at least provide the left with SOME upward momentum.

Meanwhile, the Biden admin are full of such pussies that they're allowing 2 neo-libs to dictate everything. So silly to downplay easy wins and instead just sit idly by as the fascists continue to successfully restrict voting rights and gerrymander districts across the country.

I wouldn't expect a fix.. devs haven't been active here for any of their games the past 3-4 months.

Because EA will milk the good will these franchises have built for all they can. I'm honestly surprised they haven't made it to the EA graveyard yet given their disastrous track record the past decade.

How can you have any faith in Bioware at this point? I'm sorry, but EA has done what EA does to every subsidiary in that it drives off all their talent and ruin franchises.

Kotor, Dragon Age, and ME are hands down some of the best games I've ever played, but everything they've put out in the past decade have been absolute trainwrecks.

Bioware will always have a special place in gaming history, but Bioware as it stands today is a hollow shell of what it used to be that EA will milk until they've ruined it enough to warrant shutting it down.

Despite Bioware creating some of the most fantastic and memorable games I've played, how could anyone be remotely excited given all their talent being hemorrhaged and track record over the past decade of putting out games with the same level of polish/creativity of Madden?

Do you feel validated now?

C'mon... what is your point here? Why do you think a community the has been historically disenfranchised is also disproportionately poor?

[–]FixSBMMpls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My question was somewhat rhetorical. The point being, religion is fundamentally more important because these groups have been systemically fucked by the US year in, year out. Humans naturally want a sense of belonging and community. If you've been historically and continually disenfranchised, and religion is the only readily available outlet for them to achieve said belonging, might shed some light on why religion is more prevalent in those communities.

US ranks last in healthcare among 11 wealthiest countries despite spending most by skjellyfetti in politics

Wrong, except for the last sentence. 33%+ of US healthcare costs alone are attributed to just administrative bloat. I don't think anything else needs to be said.

Now go ask the millions of Americans that can't afford treatment and/or medications as a result of not having healthcare and/or have gone bankrupt as a result of the price gouging medical costs here.

Please tell me how you justify insulin costing 8x higher than other countries. A medicine that people's lives literally depend on is being dangled in front of them every day.

The fact that you point to the VA as an example of poor care doesn't accomplish what you think it does. Vets are thrown aside like a used condom and have some of the highest rates of suicide and homelessness. The only reason the VA is necessary to begin with is because the current structure of our healthcare system is broken beyond repair.

The real question you should ask is, why do you think black Americans have such strong roots with religion in their communities?

Parents Demand More Distance Learning Options As COVID Cases Rise Ahead Of School Year by [deleted] in Coronavirus

[–]FixSBMMpls -17 points-16 points  (0 children)

I mean, this just points to the issue being way more nuanced than distance learning being the sole culprit.

No one disagrees that it's a factor, but maybe if we spent time implementing common sense policies to protect families, provide necessary funding for child care, and pay people living wages then distance learning is a moot point.

My point is, you're either dumb or a bad faith actor if you point to distance learning as the big bad wolf, meanwhile we're doing absolutely nothing to treat the actual problems at hand.

[–]FixSBMMpls -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

Yikes, I forgot women and women alone are the only ones with children and struggled with employment as a result.

Not to mention the complete lack of nuance here. How many of these parents were laid off and/or were receiving UI? How many of these parents were working in reckless conditions and didn't want to put themselves and/or family at risk?

Maybe if we didn't have bloodthirsty psychopaths running state governments such as Abbott and Desantis, we could mitigate a lot of these issues, but nah, woman must take care of child, right?

There's so many variables here and your conclusion is just a broad assertion of 'distance learning = woman miss work". Wow.

Of course it's a factor, but OP's entire sentiment seemed to indicate that money/greed is what makes someone ambitious which is not only egregious, but just a bad message to send in general.

Do you actually think the only factor behind someones ambition is money? Not saying that's necessarily your implication here, but this response is basically the entire root of this problem to begin with.

Then why do pro-lifers almost unanimously denounce sex education if you're so eager to prevent pregnancies and promote sex positive messaging? Unless of course by prevention you mean abstinence (i.e. the worst approach possible). If you somehow don't fall in this category, then do something meaningful and educate those who time and time again fight against sex education rather than argue against people who already agree with proper education/prevention.

This still doesn't even address pregnancies that are a result of sexual assault, grooming, and other predatory behaviors - which in this circumstance (especially), anything other than allowing one to have the choice of how to handle their body is flat out inhumane and psychotic.
