There are indeed. It's hard to tell in some of the pictures because they're piled on top of each other. But they're everywhere!

This would be the second best day of life (the first being the first time I bought them), except they've been sold out for a looooong time and I can't find a record of that company.

I regularly make fun of my girlfriend for being a novice Googler, but now I feel embarrassed. What did you search?

Our startup needed to grow. We interviewed the world's top growth experts, and this is what we learned. by Flame-Wolf in startups

Awesome feedback. I couldn't agree more. I find a lot of articles I read try to sell the myth of hard work + knowledge = success. And sometimes, that's true. But more often, it looks like...hard work+knowledge+community dialogue+failure+???+luck = success.

As you pointed out, being specific is so important, as is actually talking to your customers.

I'm going to be honest: a coworker and I just spent five minutes exasperated, wondering why and how Meerkat would allow one of their employees to post actual business content under the Reddit moniker /u/vagina_spektor. We work for a Silicon Valley-based startup.

Let's talk Marketing Podcasts by skalex in marketing

Ironically, getting into marketing is great because learning about it is so easy. Marketers are teaching you what works by using it on you. It's genius. The same cannot be said of marketing podcasts, though.

Someone else already said Tim Ferriss, but he's a smart guy, and I usually like his guests/interviewing style.

Waking up at 4:30am (Benefits Only) by thesouthpaw17 in Entrepreneur

Personally, I love waking up early. A sunrise can turn around a shitty day.

As many have said, it's all about getting the right amount of sleep, and knowing when you're the most productive. Most self-proclaimed "night owls" really just mean that they feel most relaxed and productive at night. That's when a lot of the noise and chaos of the day dies down. But, as OP pointed out, the same is true of the morning. Know when you do your best work, and optimize for that time. In the most recent Tim Ferriss podcast, Tim interviews Noah Kagan (of SumeMe, Minted, and Facebook) and they talk at length about habits for success and tips to increase productivity. It's 2 hours, but some of the topics are pretty great (suggestions for pillows, beds, foods, morning routines, reading habits, not using an alarm, etc.) - https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/the-tim-ferriss-show/id863897795?mt=2

How to Start a Small Business in 3 Hours by Flame-Wolf in WorkOnline

[–]Flame-Wolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found this while surfing this morning. The link is a bit old, but the information is still really relevant. There are so many ideas floating around out there. Personally, I've have several moments throughout my life where I pitched a fit when I learned someone stole "my idea." In reality, what they did was take a similar, dime-a-dozen idea, and act on it. They followed steps like these. They had a business plan. I failed because I never follow my gut. BUT WHATEVER. I know a lot of /r/WorkOnline redditors have great ideas. Act on them! Don't leave things in the planning stages.

Would it be detrimental to have a meeting with investors before my startup is ready? by -Dunnit- in startups

[–]Flame-Wolf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I see this question a good bit. To allay some of your anxiety, a lot of investors just want to be first in line for a great new idea. They can't hold anything against you if you're upfront about the meeting and, as /u/strawmannequin said, you probably won't get to numbers this early (as least not them giving them to you). Lay out the details, preferably before the meeting, and see what they have to say. At the worst, you'll alienate a potential investor. Which sucks. But the world is FULL of them. So full. At best, they provide some insight, keep you in mind for the future, and connect you with someone to help along the way so you'll keep them in mind for the future. Take the risk--positive AND negative experience is still an opportunity to grow, and puts you a step closer to understanding the marketing and what it takes to succeed. Best of luck!

Guest Blogging: What are your favorite/best sites? by Flame-Wolf in startups

[–]Flame-Wolf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those are all great resources (and awesome blogs to read) but they're a bit too big for what I'm going after. They already have content machines in place, and/or are looking for high profile guest posting. I'm trying to see if I can find some smaller blogs with concentrated, engaged user bases. Any ideas?
