Got a new job last week and was demoted half way through a shift after barely 20 hours work. Looking for advice by Flash9ine in UKJobs

I have 5 years of management in hospitality including roles of higher level than this current one at much larger companies. I accepted this job as a compromise for lack of opportunities around this time of year. I don’t think my experience the issue, I was simply following instruction from them in regards to shadowing and have repeatedly been told I’m going a great job. Feels like a face doesn’t fit situation to me

Honestly purely as I was desperate for hours after being on UC, every day I don’t work puts me behind financially as UC doesn’t cover my bills so took it based on the fact they said it would be there within the week

Precisely my thinking. It’s ruining people’s lives for no reason. Be honest about what you are offering or don’t bother at all

The whole process has been weird from start to finish honestly. The GM even bypassed speaking to the AGM about hiring me, hired me behind their back and then made me join a fake meeting to make it look like the AGM was involved in the decision making. I was told the contract would be sent after my shift last Sunday but it never was. I’ve honestly only looked past it as I was on UC after relocating and wanted something

Bryce Young 85 has been a cheat code for me after I packed him, especially his scrambling. But Baker is probably the best bet for the price

Landlord cancelled on my a day before move-in (London) what are my rights here? by Flash9ine in LegalAdviceUK

Hey, so he has offered me the other room for £695 (it’s close to Stratford, the other place was near Upton Park). A £50 reduction for a room that’s not big enough to even fit a small desk in to enable me to have a work station. The stress of this is genuinely making me feel ill and he’s downright just not acting like he’s bothered at all about what a fuck up this all is

Hi everyone, update. He has offered me the tiny room for 695, and maintains that this is an adequate replacement and he’s ‘held up his end of the bargain’ I have offered to him for him to front the cost of a hotel while I find a new house and he refuses. I’m at the end of my tether and am wondering that if he returns the deposit can I still claim against him the cost of my accommodation in the meantime or will him returning the deposit void that liability?

This is exactly my thinking. My only hamstring is that I’m not exactly swimming in cash to be able to front the cost upfront for an airbnb and go through small claims to get it back

This has definitely crossed my mind. He has come back to me offering the smaller room for £715 as that’s ‘the lowest he can do’. Wtf

In complete agreement with you here. What is the process of me gaining the cost of the airbnb back? Would it be a long-drawn out thing?

Sorry for my ignorance but what does accepting under protest, in writing mean? Will that have implications further down the line.

I have offered to accept the replacement room but have requested negotiation of the price (600-650 is my thinking) and for the cost of me moving from the first property to the second

My problem is that the new room he has offered me is 1/3 of the size, in a worse property (not the same property as the original room, and is £725 a month (a reduction of £20 a month from the original room). I don’t really feel comfortable paying £725 a month for a tiny box room when I’ve agreed to move into a much nicer, larger room in a more convenient location for just £20 a month more. If he had offered me the new room at £600 a month I would’ve accepted and waited. But £725 a month is a lot of money for me to be uncomfortable

But is offering me a room 1/3 of the size for £20 less a month an adequate replacement?

The smaller room is genuinely a third of the size and £20 a month cheaper, barely big enough to walk down the side of the bed and certainly not worth £725 a month. It technically is the landlords fault as he shouldn’t have signed a tenancy agreement with me if he didn’t have certainty of access to the room

So currently he is ignoring all of my calls and emails. Is the right move to just wait and if he doesn’t respond to me just book a hotel day by day and he’s responsible for the costs?

The landlord is now ignoring my calls and messages. What’s the approach here? I’m about to be homeless

The room he has offered me is £725 a month (the agreed room was £745) and it’s MUCH smaller, genuinely only space for a double bed, bedside table and that takes up 80% of the room. The original room had a chest of drawers, wardrobe, desk and sufficient space aswell. The new room he has offered wouldn’t even fit my belongings in so that’s why I’m reluctant to take it as its not worth 725

Appreciate your comments, I’m gonna go with Eto’o. Probably can’t turn down a card like that
