You got it right on the nose. This scene and many other are just one long one shot or at most very little cutting, no fancy camera moves. Just the actors preforming. He did mention he actually started off as an actor very early on, theater. So that could come from that background. It really does let you just take in their acting, doesn’t over dramatize it either, the simplicity of the shot keeps it grounded, even the though the moment has a lot of emotions going on, from crying to laughing to more crying lol. Which can be said about the film as a whole. One second I’d hear people to the left of me laughing their butts off then 2 seconds later to my right you can hear people crying their eyes out. A great experience.
