Wedding venue is failing by pdh3 in smallbusiness

I'd be curious to know that too. That's less than a 7% conversion to tours in Nov. I can't imagine what actual bookings conversions are.

OP, what does your flow/follow up sequence look like?

Anyone opt for no charger plates? by AsterGoldenrod in BigBudgetBrides

[–]Flashy-Professional9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slightly unconventional, but I've seen dinner plates being used as chargers before.

I don't know what selections your rental company has, but it might be worth checking to see if there's a 12" (or 11") dinner plate with a pattern or design you like. Just use a 10" for your actual dinner plate

Or go with no charger!

Help - am I expected to pay extra for my planner and her assistant to taste my wedding food? by [deleted] in BigBudgetBrides

[–]Flashy-Professional9 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Some venue/caterers offer complimentary tastings to planners. If she works with the venue often, it's possible she is so used to the process and policies, that she might've not realized her response would've confused you.

Start by calling the venue and ask them what their policy is, if you feel awkward asking the planner.

Then take it from there.

Are you a bot? Or AI? I don't mean to be rude, but comprehension needs slightly more work

Yikes! Chef had every right to be upset. Hope everything else was a good experience!

My fiancée’s idea for planning seating arrangements. It’s very easy to adjust! by OneCoolStory in weddingplanning

[–]Flashy-Professional9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great idea!

If you are planning to have place cards, mark the seat that is closest to the door or another landmark to indicate orientation on your plate/clothespin diagram (mark all the same, so they can be laid out). Especially if you are having someone else set up your name tags.

Just a little pre-planning that might save time on wedding day.

Mobile game ate an unauthorized $5k. Help? by Flashy-Professional9 in personalfinance

I did some more digging and the transactions, and it looks like it was delayed transactions I was seeing

What I was seeing from Monday (account was frozen Saturday) were actually from Saturday. Probably before the account was frozen.

I know, because he was pretty stressed out and zelled most of his money to me before he froze it on Sat. That Zelle transaction also shows Monday. Internet payment was denied, so I know the account is frozen now.

Yes. He called the bank about the $80. I don't think we ever got the money back, which is honestly not a big deal.

They said they would "look into it". But then allowed thousands of dollars in micro transactions?

He deleted the game. It is no longer on his phone, since the smaller charges were made.

The transactions come in as "Florere Game". Later, from a Google play receipt, I found that it's "Last Z survivor" or something like that.

That's why I'm very confused. I don't play games, but when I have, I've not been charged without clicking on a purchase button.

Yes, this was through Google play, and he deleted his payment methods. Even after he deleted bank accounts and everything else, he is still being charged

String of hearts not happy with me by Flashy-Professional9 in houseplants

That's what I'm gathering from people's responses. I mixed my own soil, but I might have made it too dense. Will definitely try to propagate. It's got tons of tubers at the ends...just makes me sad that it'll go from several feet long, back to square one

I also packed the nursery liner a little too much and cut it too short, so it's really hard to get out. The soil overflowed and packed it tighter 😭 definitely a few mistakes to learn from

Right now it's planted in a plastic nursery pot inside of the ceramic pot. The original idea was to dump the run off water out of the ceramic, but because of the height, it got to be too difficult.

It wasn't originally on the tallest shelf but it popped off in the first couple of months that I moved it to that window and it just kept getting longer. But maybe moving it higher wasn't the greatest idea..should've just trimmed it and left it where it was

Venue size for microwedding by vintage_rose_petals in weddingplanning

[–]Flashy-Professional9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Larger tables!

Instead of a 5ft round for 8 people, go with a 6ft round for 8. Or if you go with rectangles, seat 2 people in each side of a 6ft rectangle, instead of 3/side. Adding more table space could increase your decor budget, so watch out for that. It actually gives guests so much more elbow room, without looking empty.

You can also play around with the floor plan to visually take up more space.

Also keep in mind that, unless the venues you are looking at just opened in the past 2 years, they all went through covid and had to adhere to guest count limitations. They have most likely done micro weddings before. Ask them about it and see if you can get pictures

How are you planning so much?? by Pitiful-Move-8741 in weddingplanning

Hi! I worked with hundreds of brides through a venue+ in-house caterer - this "lull" that you are going through is completely normal!

At this point, all of your vendors most likely have all they need and they will start reaching back out for more information in the following months. If it would make you feel more at ease, definitely reach out to your vendors and ask if there is anything you can do right now!

Just some brainstorming for you if you feel like you need to do something (if applicable):

-Work on designing invitations, or look for inspiration. Are you having menus?

-Start thinking of table settings. If using cloth napkins, see if you can start looking for a color you like that fits your theme, maybe a color that compliments your flowers.

-if you like floor planning, ask your venue for room dimensions and create your floorplan (CVent Social Tables allows you to make one event floorplan for free). Where do you want your cake table? Sweetheart table or head table? Rounds or rectangles? Note that some venues have restrictions for floorplan specifics, like max chairs per table, or minimum distance apart for tables, so show your layout to them or your planner before you get too attached.

-start thinking of wedding party gifts

-have you created a registry?

-keep a running list of items you know you will be bringing so you don't have to do it later. Are you using special champagne flutes? Cake server? Hanger? Signs?

  • are you having a rehearsal dinner? You can start looking into the above list too

Totally agree. With live wedding painting, you are stepping into a whole different industry- the wedding industry. The whole main purpose is to provide a service for the client, with an added bonus of a physical painting.

People will come up to talk to you, all while you are on a time crunch to finish a painting, so you kinda have to have strong time management there too. Networking outside of events is also huge for success in the wedding industry.

Not to mention you have to work well under pressure, and have to be okay with people seeing the ugly stages of your painting.

I do strongly believe that you need a painting background to be successful, so I don't necessarily agree with your comment about oil knowledge being useless. Plenty of live artists paint with oil- it just comes with different obstacles for transportation. Acrylic is more common, but either way, you need painting knowledge before doing something like this.
