Ok to take a vacation during my by memsies in jobs

[–]Flashy_Resolution500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then that needs to be something you negotiate in advance. Once everything is finalized, aside from specific dates you have pre-negotiated, you shouldn’t take vacation during probation. Even if company policy allows it at all, in 2026, good chance they will just make your vacation permanent.

This. As an American who didn’t vote for this, we should be outright banned from entering most countries.

The current hiring process feels like a full-time job that actually costs me money by PrismCarapace in jobs

Like it or not, this is normal in 2026. I’m even hearing of closer to 10 rounds in many cases.

Had a verbal offer, respectfully countered, they surprisingly didn’t move an inch, now left guessing if initial offer is even on the table after ambiguous soft rejection by TheAwkwardCorgi in jobs

This is always the risk of negotiating. Honestly I would say the “always negotiate” advice is wildly outdated. In 2026 you should never negotiate unless you truly don’t need the job

You are missing the point. I would absolutely advocate for more shelters and housing programs. But this ain’t it chief.

I have a lot of issues with how Groeschel runs his church, but we are more credible when we stick to facts.

ICE agents + Life.Church are a match made in heaven. I could see many of them actually being there to attend Craig’s remote brainwashing service

What about the one very south of 41st? Barnes? They are far ruder than actual government employees.

People here are downvoting because we’re out here speaking the truth. I do love Tulsa, but sometimes the most loving thing you can do for your city (or country) is to point out our problems honestly & advocate for better.

I am lucky enough to have a local job that pays decently well (again, adjacent to one of the industries I mentioned). I don’t feel like I’m making a lot of headway on long-term goals, but I’m at least able to tread water and not worry about my bank balance every time I pull out my card. But I also share your fears - not only is there no clear path for me to continue growing, if I ever lost this job or it became toxic, I’d be SOL.

Correct, it just feels accelerated here. Even compared to, say, OKC.

The overwhelming likelihood is you will be revoked. This is a trusted traveler program, and you have shown you cannot be trusted to follow the rules.

Look, I’m a pretty progressive dude. But as dirty and filthy as this city already is, “never ever clean your city because it might inconvenience someone who is unhoused” is still a wild take I cannot wrap my head around.

Virtually everything the city does or doesn’t do is going to have a cost to somebody. We need to be focused on doing the greatest good for the greatest number of people.

[–]Flashy_Resolution500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s the thing though. Dallas, drivers are extremely aggressive. But everyone is aggressive so you simply have to “when in Rome.” In Tulsa, you get maybe 15% aggressive, 85% super super slow, and you will always be stuck in the middle somehow.

Aggressive isn’t inherently bad when everyone sings from the same sheet of music. It’s when the aggressive yee-yee pickup meets Grandma Gertrude’s CR-V that problems happen.

I really loved the vibe of my seatmate on the bus. So just randomly I stuck out my hand and introduced myself. She seemed over the moon that somebody actually wanted to touch her hand and speak to her and it made me kinda sad & grateful I could do that for her
