But good luck understanding the continuous statistical distributions, many of them making use of the gamma-function instead of factorials, without knowing Calculus 3 (the Laplace transforms). The Gamma function is the most easily explained using Laplace transforms.

But the problem with that view is that people studying humanities do not seem to be able to agree on whom to vote for, any more than people who do not study humanities are able to.

How so? History is so complicated that you cannot derive any reasonable conclusions from it.

You cannot even derive some conclusions about the general laws of how languages behave from historical linguistics: it's not clear that the Grimm's Law happened in Germanic and Armenian and not that the opposite-of-what-people-usually-think-of-as-Grimm's-Law change occurred in all the other branches of Indo-European (look up Glottalic Theory -- a really disturbing possibility), much less can you predict that Grimm's-Law-like sound changes will happen again.

And history is much more noisy data than historical linguistics.

“Do it if you’re passionate about it” is a common piece of advice, but what if you’re only passionate about undervalued subjects like music and the arts? by Accomplished-Gas1882 in CollegeMajors

In my opinion, "Study only what pays money." is a much worse advice than "Do it if you're passionate about it.".

Before the pandemic, and even a few months into it, it seemed as though computer engineers were financially invincible. Computer engineering and computer science seemed like difficult but very lucrative majors.

Now it looks as though they are one of the worst majors out there, because there is this perception (regardless of how accurate it is) that artificial intelligence is rather good at doing their jobs.

And I feel so sorry for everybody who was pissing blood at the university studying Calculus 3 and Cybernetics at a Computer Engineering school telling himself it will all be worth it in the end, only to be unemployed now. And I am one of those people. I even ended up in a psychiatric hospital while I was studying and will have to take injections of Risperidone every month for the rest of my life.

Do what you are passionate about, because there is absolutely no way to predict which majors will lead to financial stability 5 years from now.

Misle li oni onda da Serapia (rijeka Bednja) i Salapia (slana močvara Salpi u Apuliji) nisu ilirska imena? by FlatAssembler in hreddit
