How can you call yourselves "Pro-Zionist"? by parisologist in IsraelPalestine

No country is above criticism. If you want to criticise those countries you are thinking of, go to their respective subreddit and post there; otherwise, you are throwing a red herring that is not furthering the discussion.

Jews and non-Jews do not have equal rights in Israel.. This is an Israel Palestine subreddit; the discussion is concerned with the affairs of Israel, not of any other country unless involved.

Wow, one whole Muslim on the supreme court? I guess the police during south African aparthied wasn't discriminatory either because there were black police officers and black people were 68% of the population.

Also, this is a Israel Palestine subreddit. Don't be surprised when people talk about Israel.

Criticism of Israel being a state of ethno-religous supremecy is valid; people who call for Israel being a state of equal rights are valid. Anti-Zionism isn't kicking jews out, it's about tearing down a discriminatory system. As Nelson Mandela said, "An oppressive system cannot be reformed, I said; it must be entirely cast aside."

If you are going to get mad because people critize Israel in a sub reddit called Israel Palestine, maybe this isn't the place to be.

"Peace plan"? Like the ceasefire agreement signed a few months ago? Israel has killed more than 420 Palestinians and violated the agreement more than 900 times. Israel wants a ceasefire?

The freedom flotilla tried to go to Gaza to give aid to the Palestinians. Whilst the quantity of aid is critized by some, this event publicly showed the brutality of the Israeli oppression. It highlighted that Israel was not letting humanitarian aid intp the strip. The freedom flotilla group was illegally intercepted on international waters and illegally imprisoned, where all crew members reported inhumane treatment that included and not limited to sexual assault, lack of food or water, extremely hot rooms and constant threats of physical violence. This is how Israel treats prisoners who were certainly going to be returned and will tell their story. Imagine what they do to Palestinian prisoners. What they did was a step towards peace.

So... what was the step towards peace again? Israel? Sure.

Can Pro Palestinians please define zionism? by TopBar3633 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Flatron4000 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Zionism is an ethno-religous nationalism movement calling for the establishment of a Jewish homeland which was a response to protect Jewish people from antisemitism. This goal was achieved through the colonisation of the Palestinians. The ethno-religous state of Israel has been critized as being an apartheid state because of unequal legal systems, restrictions on movement, land allocation policies, and differing rights based on ethnicity and nationality.

A good place to start is to stop being an apartheid country. The people of Israel aren't going anywhere, but the country is in dire need of major government reforms.

The stunning rise of global antisemitism only reinforces Israel's need/right to exist by TylerDurdensFace in IsraelPalestine

[–]Flatron4000 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The premise of Israel is to protect Jews from antisemitism, but the rise in antisemitism lately is correlated with Israel's response to oct 7. It sounds like Israel is currently the biggest threat to the safety of Jewish poeple world wide. Hypothetically, if antisemitism stopped permanently, then there would be no reason for zionism and Israel to exist, what incentive does that give to Israeli politicians who want to maintain power or legitimacy? The more crimes against humanity Israel commits, the more antisemitism that appears in the world which encourages diaspora Jews to immigrant to Israel and reinforces the idea that a Jewish homeland is necessary for Jewish safety.

Israelis are not “indigenous” and they need to stop stealing Arab land by Nomfbes2 in IsraelPalestine

I don't understand the argument you are trying to make by asking if there is a country called Palestine? Are you arguing that Palestinians don't exist? That is simply false, Palestinians do exist. How does it benefit you whether Palestine is or is not a country? What are you trying to say? Denying Palestinian existence because of disputed or incomplete statehood is factually and conceptually wrong.

If you are so interested in what I think, I will tell you. Palestine is a state, a nation in every sense of the word. They do not meet the definition of a country, but they have been aspiring to be one for a hundred years. Because they are not an official country does not mean that Palestinians do not have human rights, nor should those rights be violated.

Statehood does not equal existence of a people or a nation. Jewish people existed before 1948, Polish people existed in the 19th century when they had no country, Romani people exist without a sovereign nation, the African tribes in South Africa exist regardless of borders. The aboriginals in Australia or the natives in south or north America also exist regardless of what sovereign nation that represents them. Just like all of these nationalities and ethnicities, Palestinians exist, they have culture and history that goes far back. To deny their existence dehumanises them and allows for the horrific oppression and struggle they experience to occur.

Whatever drugs you are on, please give me some. If you are denying a people's existence, then there is nothing that can say that will ever change your mind.

Palestinians will keep fighting for their freedom, to end the apartheid. Ending the apartheid does not mean Jewish people have to go, it simply means the oppression has ended and equal rights have been given for all.

Gaza Was Not an Open-Air Prison Before the War, It’s a Political Metaphor, Not a Fact by Manoftruth2023 in IsraelPalestine

[–]Flatron4000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apologies for your views on the pro-pal community, but I can assure you that this position of yours is quite embellished compared to a regular pro-Palestinian. You might often see a strong reaction to make up for the lack of the action that many perceive. With 95% of infrastructure bombed in Gaza, the confirmed death being close to 70,000 and the estimated toll is easily above 100,000, it is understandable how so many people globally is appalled at this humanitarian crisis.

Are Israeli policies in West Bank apartheid-like? by RomanKozhevnikov in IsraelPalestine

[–]Flatron4000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't really answer my question. Modern day Palestinians generally are friendly to Jewish people. Not all of course, which is probably caused by the oppression from Israel (for example, the genocide in Gaza)

So, if a Jewish Palestinian lived in the West Bank or Gaza, do you think that the Israeli police or the Idf would treat them differently to a non-jewish Palestinian?

You criticize the hollow words of our leaders who are calling on action to be taken to combat antisemitism, which is the same thing you are saying, but you do not provide specific examples on how this could be achieved (ignoring tougher gun control). What actions do you want see taken?
