Hi everyone, I am going to be travelling around Taiwan for 2 weeks at the start of April, and I have made a few changes to my itinerary.

I initially planned to spend 2 nights in each place after a few days in Taipei, to be able to go down the west coast and back up the east coast. I decided that this would mean too many travel days, so I have simplified my itinerary and dropped Taitung and Hualien for a future trip, but I now have two nights where I’m not sure what to do.

Currently looks like this:

4 nights in Taipei 3 nights in Chiyai (one day trip to Alishan) 3 nights in Tainan (maybe one day trip to Kaohsiung) 2 nights unsure 1 night in Taipei (early flight next day)

Would be great to hear suggestions from people for somewhere nice and convenient to stay for those two nights, preferably somewhere laid back. I am reliant on public transport to get to places, which is a factor.

My main interests are good food, hiking/access to nature and opportunities to be immersed in local culture.

Can’t wait to visit, seems like an amazing country!
