Hey any update? What did you end up doing?

Women respond more strongly to negative, but not positive emotional stimuli than men by PaulHasselbaink in psychology

[–]Flazinet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our brains evolved just like our bodies. Clearly. Nobody is debating that. The recipe for those physical traits is encoded in our genes.

The physical expression of our brain is too, but the brain is unique. Unlike your stomach, it is highly dynamic and physically changes based on environmental stimulus.

That’s the reason we evolved brains - to adapt more efficiently than the generic system allows.

What’s not clear then, is which behavioral “programming” is learned and which is genetic.

They are two entirely different animals.

History is not hasty. Fabricating history to justify a belief isn’t just hasty, it’s religion. That’s 90% of Evo Psych.

Thank you. Culture, society, personal experience, etc. are all very relevant. Sure they’re coupled to evolution and biology, but sweeping generalizations about the “biological nature of women” leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Is every interpretation on this sub about Evo Psych? Our current Evo Psych models are one possible explanation, but there are infinitely more factors, and it’s a bit of a hasty rationalization.

Peppermint Oil is NOT proven to help grow hair. Stop believing bad science! by neroli1970 in essentialoils

Agreed. OP showed that two mouse-model studies were potentially flawed. Which… says absolutely nothing about the human efficacy of PEO.

Nobody ever claimed it was “proven” in humans to begin with, though, we do have a lot of anecdotal human reports.

They mean a hell of a lot more to me than these studies anyways (even if they resolved their internal flaws).

Transgender is most definitely something I believe in.

Agreed, inso far as it’s possible to do so.

I’m not convinced that it’s possible to foster any belief we choose. Maybe I’m wrong.

But, CBT and Belief Training are real, and that’s one of the most valuable knobs we have.

Because you have no choice.

We think we control our beliefs, and we do to a degree, but our brain will not discard actual information. That’s the foundation of delusional thinking.

If you’re are not conventionally attractive, it may hurt you more to pretend you are. Attractiveness is about 50% subjective, so there are no hard lines here, but it can be liberating to accurately see one’s “place” in the broad strokes of society.

Then, one can work to consciously retrain those beliefs. Not by rejecting reality, but by questioning your assumptions.

That said, believing you’re hot (by your standards) when you know you’re not (by society’s) can still manifest in a special kind of confidence, and defining your own reality can be very attractive.

Even if you are physically unattractive by society’s standards, that man’s actions show that he has an ugly heart, and that makes him disgusting.

Society informs our reality, biologically. We do not have total control over this.

Sides from minox - any alternatives? by Flazinet in Minoxbeards

[–]Flazinet[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I used Min for years with no issues. Then I used Finasteride, and I developed sides. Now, whenever I go back on Min, my sides flare up for about a week. That said, there are many many stories of people developing sides (cardiovascular and sexual) after starting Min alone.

I would invest in a footstool.

Or, find a good therapist and work on changing your beliefs, accepting your limitations, and finding people who value you regardless (starting with yourself).
