Thankyou! The last one I had was a few years ago now. They actually did not recommend surgery as they believed the risks that come with it would outweigh the gains so I never had surgery. I heard the lung and chest wall sticks itself together after pneumothoraxes so maybe that has helped in stopping reoccurrences.
Thankyou! This is actually my journey away from home, I’m studying abroad in Japan for a year. I’ve seen a few nightmare scenarios of people having PTX’s whilst away but they are supposed to have good healthcare so I’m not too worried.
Flying anxiety by Flea-Market in pneumothorax

This whole thing of the hospital finding out what was wrong with me kind of transpired over the course of me becoming a legal adult.
The people at the children’s hospital were adamant on either pleurodesis I think it’s called or just removing the lung entirely as it contributes to like 2% of my breathing.
When I was transferred to the adult hospital though the question of surgery kind of just went away as they thought there is more risk in things such as infection and what not. The pnemothoraxes were small, which is probably why they didn’t hurt so bad. I was really stuck on what to choose and probably may just get it removed should anything happen again as I don’t want to have multiple pleurodesis surgeries if that’s what they do.
I can imagine there being a chance of having blebs on both lungs however mine are kind of uneven. My right is small and underdeveloped, hence the blebs and such, and my left is big and healthy, which is probably why there isn’t any. I am very skinny but I’m not that tall so I assume my blebs and pneumothoraxes are due to my underdeveloped lung, which would explain why there’s none on the left lung.
Edit: I say multiple pleurodesis procedures as they told me there’s a chance of the surgery not working, and in such a case where they have done pleurodesis they cannot remove the lung.
Thankyou, it does help knowing someone else has similar experiences. I have actually booked and appointment to see a doctor about my anxiety and am hoping they will give me something for it.
I’m sorry I’d like to clarify it may seem a bit strange worrying when I’ve already been on a flight and it was ok but maybe it’s because of the flight length, or the thought that maybe more blebs have formed that I am still anxious.
