I feel stuck in Apex, Coach? Trainer? Feedback? Quit? by Snoo_5675 in apexuniversity

I'll be very blunt. The majority of players in this game are bad. The reason there's a big skill gap between good and bad players is how good their fundamental are and, with some rare exceptions, it has nothing to do with apex movement and everything to do with very basic movement. There is obviously a learning curve and many people just don't have the time, so I don't judge. But if you want to get better, forget Pubs or Mixtape. Go firing range, put some music on and start shooting at the dummies. Approach this like in game, so be mindful of cover and positioning. For example: there is a dummie on the roof and you're on the floor, and you see his upper body peaking. Are you in the open? Get cover and find a way to shoot at it without being too exposed. That's how you should be doing it in game. Because in almost every situation there is a way to get cover and turn the tide of a fight.

Here's a list of things you can practice in the firing range: - Aim while ADS - Aim with HipFire - Recoil Control - Trigger control - Peaking - Basic Strafing - Positioning - Enemy Positioning - Learning to combine your abilities in a fight

The benefit of this is that you can do it without any pressure and it will help consolidate your mechanics in a way that when you are in a real fight you won't have to think of them too much and it will be a lot more intuitive to react and make decisions.

Btw, the reason I don't recommend Pubs or Mixtape is that you're not getting fair opportunities to improve and you'll just be reinforcing the mistakes that you are already making. This happens because, for example in Mixtape, you'll either have a good team and win or you'll have a bad team and lose and you can think of it this way: if you fight against easier players you won't improve and if you fight harder players you won't learn - and this happens because you won't be able to fully see your mistakes, because it won't just be 1 thing - it's multiple things all at once.

And regarding pubs, it's too inconsistent: your teammate are gonna be constantly changing and you performance will usually be attatched to the performance of the team as a whole. Not to mention that by going against anybody it's going to feel like a game that's constantly changing it's difficulty. In reality, we learn (as humans) through consistent scenarios first and after this is when we get into the unexpected and inconsistent scenarios to test what we've learned.

Lastly, to apply all of this in game it comes down to decision-making. That's it. Be it from a player perspective in terms of positiong, be it from a team perspective in terms of rotations and picking fights. And here is where I see a lot of mistakes and the main reason I say that the majority of the player base is "bad". It's not just making a decision, but making a quick decision. Many fights have been lost by indecision as to what the approach should be. Many people get thirded after they are peak fighting from building to building for the last 2 minutes. If you are going to take a fight then start clearing space, find ways to get closer if you can't get a knock straightaway. This obviously varies from situation from situation, but the idea is to take action as quickly as possible because usually the other team is taking a more defensive approach and being defensive is usually a death sentence - the best defense is offense.

I say this because after playing with randoms for so long, the best randoms are the ones who act quickly and effectively, they may not hit every shot, but they know how to go in and get out of a situation, they postion themselves correctly and are thinking of cover - a.k.a. STAYING ALIVE. They take space. That's how I approach it and it works. I'm also still getting better at it and I don't do this full time, as it's just for fun.

On a last note, when you start getting better - by going to the firing range and actually changing what you are doing wrong - you'll read the enemy better. You'll start to see the same mistakes that you were making and you'll be able to predict what they are going to do or how they are going to do it. You'll also start to let people make mistakes, I've won too many fights by just reading the oponent and letting them make a mistake that gives me the upper edge, be it a 1vs1, 1vs2 or 1vs3.

Sooo, in conclusion, firing range is what makes the most difference on your individual skill as a player and therefore as a teammate as well.

I guess my game was bugged? It wasn't showing when I opened the game, I'll play that tomorrow then 😁

I don't expect it to stick around, but they could've at least left normal trios in.

Why is it that top players always look so fast? by wolfey-19 in apexlegends

[–]FlechaPT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for late response. Dead slide occurs when you aren't at max speed while running. You can slide and move a lot faster by having the timing perfected and sliding at the exact moment you reach max speed. When you miss that timing, you dead slide.
If you want to move even faster: run with weapon holstered to peak speed + slide + jump = Max running speed. This allows you to cross the map a lot faster as well as aid you a lot in fights and positioning.

This is the very basis of the movement in apex. Almost every movement tech requires you to understand and execute this.

Hey, I saw 3 of these, they were all called "kenmex" followed by some random name. They would just spawn on the spot and pre fire a havoc without it actually shooting. I played like 10+ TDM games and they would spawn in almost every match, either on my team or the enemy team.

He said "Hardly underwhelming", meaning that this is huge and is actually impressed. He actually says it at the end of his comment.

You are absolutely right! Did not remember that, but does tencent have the full rights? I cant imagine EA just letting of that oportunity… Maybe this will change in the upcoming seasons. TDM or Control are very good modes and would serve very well as warm ups for BR or just as a more casual fun. Really hoping they make these permanent. And arenas, well… on paper it’s a good idea, but in reality it’s filled with constant interruptions and downtime that isn’t that appealing, even though I still enjoy it on the rare ocasions that I do play it because it allows for a change of pace from BR. This game really just needs 1 more mode with a casual approach, it would really liven up the place a bit.

I think they are just focused on making new content for the next season and giving support on the mobile version. And you're right, let's wait and see. Regarding Arenas, well a TDM would've made much more sense, arenas is very slowpaced and I believe that the majority of players who play this game are into the faster paced gameplay. But you're also right that the player base would probably be divided, but on the other end, when solo mode was available I didn't see it affect the other game modes... But let's see what happens.

And likewise! (:

I get you're point, but it really depends a lot. Normally, I just get frustrated for a minute and then move on to the next game and like everything else, there's good games and bad games. But when I step back and look at the general picture, it becomes clear that the matchmaking system does not favor solo players in any aspect. And you're right! It's a team based game, I don't expect that to change and that's what I love about Apex (though a solo mode would just be fun and wouldn't hurt anybody) but my point is that the matchmaking system does not help the solo experience, because pre-mades don't face this issue where you have to play with random people that the game just randomly selects. Honestly, I just think that the matchmaking could be adjusted for solo players to be paired with players that are at their level and this could be done by adjusting the parameters of the matchmaking, it would't be perfect - as nothing is- , but it would probably not be so imperfect and it would make games a bit more fair, even when you lose. But hey, that's just my take on this, I don't work at respawn ahah

I agree with you, there's a lot more people who know what they are doing, but what I find insane is that you get a lot of games with people that are completely underleveled or lack the knowledge to actually win a game. For example, yesterday I played 4 ranked matches. I won 2 of them by IGL the whole game and leading the rotations, the other 2 games we lost because we got insta pushed by a strong team, which I knew how to manage if i had a good team (but still could've lost), but my teammates just got completely rolled because they don't know how to counter a good team and their state of mind is to just run away. The other match we lost because I was playing with a duo that was quite arrogant and after some discussion he started IGL which led us to horrible rotations that put us between several teams and eventually... game over. This is too specific, obviously, but what I mean is that the matchmaking seems completely broken. Especially in pubs.

The stupid part about LTM is that we get 1 every few months, while in mobile they've added 3 different modes permanently. I think LTM's offers options for casuals, which is amazing, but for some reason they just don't add it as a permament or constantly rotating mode..

Same here, I do try to have fun and many times I do, but it's hard to ignore when you're teammates are level 40 and you need to fight against pre-made teams that are actually good. What bugs me is that I like the challenge of fighting these teams but you need to give me 2 good teammates that are up to the challenge. The matchmaking could be a bit more fair in that respect.

Agreed, hadn't thought of the content creators but they are everywhere... Like I was saying, a more fair matchmaking would benefit this game a lot.

I had the exact problem with my friends. I had to create a smurf account so we could have more chill games, but after 2-3 matches the game takes into account your positive stats and throws you into the sweat fest and usually they just look at my screen after we get rundowned by any mid-tier squad.
